I've driven 3 GSRs as of late, I wouldn't fixate on 2nd gear too much. It's not really as big a deal as you're making it out to be.

Spend more time with the car, learn to work around the issue you're having. Why waste money on it?

Are you that picky about the car that your complaining about the gear ratio of the second gear. If thats your biggest worry I wouldnt even bother stating it. If your not happy with where 2nd gear engages the rev to 4k or 4.5k in first. that will most likely solve your problem..

p.s. I dont have an issue... I love the car

i think anyone complaining about the rev drop in the 1-2 jump are probably not shifting fast enough.. in other words, learn to shift better.

Flat out I think you're wrong. Trust me I know what a close gear box feels like, my other ride is a CBRF4. Supa fast shift in the GS-r from 1st to 2nd in a GS-r results in mismatched revs. Engine speed is way too high to match wheel speed (engine needs to spin down), in order to get a smooth fast shift you need to slip the clutch or wait till the revs drop. Shift fast and watch the tach, it get pulled down to dramatically. Try driving a ITR and you'll immediately notice the closer ratio between 1st and 2nd. If you don't have access to a ITR drive a SIR or check this out: http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/bseries.html

ITR and GS-r share the same 1st gear ratio (3.230) while the 2nd gear for the ITR is 2.105 vs the GS-r at 1.900. Flat out the GS-r's ratio jump is way too large.

I'm sure you're so happy with your car that it doen't need any improvement.

Besides the ratios of the GS-r the body of the teg can use some stiffening up :fawk:. Yes I can complain day and night about my GS-r but overall it's the best compromise.

I'm always shifting at 4k, you take yours up to 8k in first and do a quick 2nd gear shift and tell me you don't think the rev drop is abrupt. Next you need to drive an ITR or SIR and tell me that you don't think the 1st to 2nd ratio is better.

Dont get me wrong guys......the GS-R is a beautiful machine, and I'm very happy with it, but as stated above, I think i might ditch the 2nd gear for an smaller one. I guess I'll have to drive around in it a little more, to decide if it is necessary. And someone above mentioned clutch dropping at 5k.........no thank you, I'd like to keep the engine for a little while

Actually, he's driven my car a few times. He happens to be saying that, even after the fact. :fawk:

of course a fast shift will result in revs being pulled down, it doesn't matter how close the gear ratios are, unless they're identical (which would be pointless), this will happen. duh!

you waste soo much time in a shift if you're waiting for the revs to fall so that they'll match.

this little argument of yours further enforces my statement that you need to learn to shift better.

:slap: > oop's, how did that feel... LOL

Ive also driven all makes in models of porsche's and even a Ferrari and honestly if you KNOW your vehicle.. Especially the GSR in this case.. you wouldn’t be complaining about such a minute difference.

The car has SOOO much potential. Why waste your time with a gear when you can throw on a CAI and make up for the split second of (supposable) engine lag between shifts .. Cause I know with my 7k mile GSR, I dont run into issue's shifting @ 8k and noticing a lag to second.

Im not doughting its not there... its just not that much of a problem to worry about that would require money to switch out when you can be doing so much more with so much less $$$ fronted.

I've only had the car for a week....Not sufficient time to get to know the car . I guess I was driving the LS for so long that I'm just used to the hard pull off of the line. but what the LS had off of the line, the GS-R makes up for when you hit 5k.................
