I've been to the ref. It's quite the experience to see how much they actually inspect. I had to go for a smog ticket that I got for a CARB legal AEM intake...which was a joke. I also had gotten an exhaust ticket in the same deal, and they never tested the exhaust...just did the visual inspection and sniff smog test. Does the ref do dB testing now?

I called them to find out if they would do the test based on that infraction code (021750 or 021751?) and they said yes they do the measurement. Takes an hour according to them. Car already passed smog like a month ago, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Not sure if they do the db testing. Maybe now they do, but the same goes for me when I went to the ref. Thourough visual and standard CA standard sniffer.

+6dB is a 100% increase in sound level, and I am ~7dB under BIG difference there, which means the cop was just using it as an excuse to look for stuff that he didn't find...

Interesting thing I found on the paperwork - the 95dB deal does not apply to motorcycles?

motorcycles are different situations, the hells angels pretty much make sure they are allowed to do whatever they want.
