shmoo did you have to drill two holes when you mount the type 31 intercooler. When charge pipe connects to tb. Does it connect with the greddy blue rubber coupler or the charge pipe goes on top of the tb????

No drilling need to mount the intercooler. The charge piping is all connected with couplings. Make sure they are all tight and secure to prevent them from leaking or blowing off when the throttle plate closes. You are going to get the blow off valve installed the same day? It would be a good idea to prevent damage to the turbo thrust bearings during upshifts.

I mean that you may have to go down to the local home improvement store, find a silicone pipe that has a diameter that will fit the charge and throttle body pipe, and then cut a little section off to make a custom coupling that works.

i thought the blue round rubber piece connects the throttle body to the charge pipe??? I am using mygsr intake currently and i connect the aem round rubber piece to the tb pipe.
Im at dilemma shmoo, my bro will install turbo kit nex tweekend, which leaves1 to 2 weeks till dyno day on June 10th. Is there any way i can drive my gsr with my stock ecu, or use the p28 chipped ecu and run low boost? Or can i just hook up the ls blue box to run like a baby for mean time. Do i need a bov????right away. I wont install bov and i wont run run until a while.

Yeah, the coupling just connects the throttle body and charge pipe together.

I don't really know what to tell you. Your best option is to install the blue box and avoid boost until you can get it tuned. The stock ECU will throw you codes left and right and you will lean out to the point of engine damage. The P28 may work without codes but I would put the blue box on and be real easy on it if you HAVE to drive it.

You will need a blow off valve if you want to maximize the life of the turbo and it's thrust bearings. It will also spool up quicker after shifts since the compressor wheel isn't slowed down by the pressure waves that send it oscillating against it's thrust bearings. I didn't have a BOV for 2 weeks after I installed the turbo, so you can wait but I wouldn't be boosting hard until you get one.

I don't have a turbo but I wanted to know what the different psi's do for the turbo. Does it really make all that much of a difference? Whats the highest you can go?

It all depends on the turbo. The Greddy TD05 turbo is efficient at lower boost levels since it is smaller. It does make a good amount of difference between boost levels but you need to make sure that the car is tuned and built for the higher boost if you plan on taking it there. Also, 8 psi on a TD05 is much different than 8 psi on a T3/T4 hybrid turbo due to size and flow.

You can buy a DSM BOV that will work just fine. You will need a blow off valve unless you plan to prematurely rebuild the turbo because the thrust bearings have been distroyed by compressor surge.
