check the clutch. might be the reason for the shaking only at certain speeds

Check to see if your suspension has any play and make sure everything is tight and none of the bushings are worn out.

I still think its a bent axle/rim. I don't see how the clutch could be a problem making the car shake at a certain speed, because it would do it at that same RPM in every gear.

If an alignment next weekend doesn't fix it, I am going to have a mechanic look at it since I am totally incompetent in the diagnostic area. I have tried everything I think it could be, so I will have someone who knows what they are doing tell me.

Inner joint is bad.... Inners don't make any click noise they just vibrate bad on accel in higher gears.... most noticible on stock tegs w/ light accel in thirg gear about 35-40 mph... Don't rule out that left axle just because it's been replaced. You don't know how good that inner joint was before they 'remanufactured' it...

You have a good point because I did notice the shaking a little bit after I replaced the axle that wasn't there before. It seems like it is coming from the passenger side though and that axle was replaced after the problem surfaced. It vibrates during all ranges of acceleration but worst under heavy acceleration from 40-70mph and it does start in third gear.

I would find a couple of "known good" axles and swap them in and test drive it... BTW if your teg is lowered more than 1 1/2
inches you may be putting the stock length axles in a severe bind. They may not have enough depth in the inner joints to allow sufficient movement inside causing them to jam at the bottom. Makes for premature and excessive wear, broken transmission or differential or even a possibly bent axle. The solution is to raise it back up some or get custom shortened axles ( a 1/2 inch shorter axle shaft should be OK).

That is the first I have heard of this. I thought 2 inches was fine for the axles. If it is ongoing problem, I will raise it back up a bit.

I was poking around H-T and someone said that the harmonic balancers missing off the axles could cause shaking. I had them on my old axles but I didn't put new ones on my new axles. Should this be something to be concerned about or are they blowing smoke up my ass?
