Quick Intake Question
Is it Safe to run the stock intake without the covers on?
Also My filter is gettin a lil dirty is it safe to just run a hose on it? If yes, how do I remove the filter, I don't see how it is held on.
My last question, is it worth it to get a K&N Filter with the stock tubings or should I just go get a SRI or CAI.

It is safe to run the stock intake without the cover on (it will just get dirtier a bit faster).
You can use a hose to clean off a stock filter but I wouldn't recommend it as the stock filters are essentially paper which can be broken down by water. If you do use water, make sure the filter is dry before putting it back on. You can get a K&N replacement for your stock filter if you don't yet want to go with a full intake then you won't have to worry about cleaning the stock filter every so often.

h: warmer air may get into the intake and the filter will be exposed to more dirt, but it wont harm anything.like someone said, the stock filter is made of paper material and isnt suppose to be reuseable. get yourself a KN filter. they make one that fits right onto the stock tubing. just run a search in this forum to find the part number.
replacing the stock filter with a more free flowing one like that KN one is a good set up. the main difference between the stock tubing and a SRI is that the SRI intake is smooth on the inside creating smoother air flow into the manifold. the stock intake arm has ridges on the inside, designed for a "quieter" intake.
and the difference between a SRI and CAI is the filter placement and the length of the intake arm. both have their pros and cons.

that is the direct drop in, which is $70. :ugh:
KN makes another one in which you do a 5 min mod to make it fit. you will still use part of your old stock filter. cost about $30
