First of all, you have a B18B. The B18A was in the '90-'93 non-VTEC Integras.

Secondly you will not be able to use your pullies (which are worthless, by the way) or your manifold with the Type-R motor.

"I want a Type-R motor" is a typical noob question. I suggest instead you figure out how much money you want to spend and how fast you want to go. That is a far more productive way of going about modifying any car.

why not just put a head on it...you can either do a b16b, b18c, or b18c5 head. Each of these are vtec, and will significantly effect your current horsepower. I would go with either a b16 or b18c due to the fact that you will still be a to use the same intake manifold. The pulleys, I'm not sure. If mrfatbooty says they're sh*t, i would listen to him. He seems to know a lot about this type of thing. Of course when you introduce vtec to your setup, you will need to get your oil lines run. If you go to a good shop they will know what to do. Good luck.

If you have an LS, especially one with such a new engine, I wouldn't swap out. I'd test the compression and check if the engine is turbo-capable, and go from there.

And FB's response wasn't asshole-ish... it was realistic. How much money do you have and how much are you willing to spend? What gains do you want to see?

B18C5s are excellent engines if you're looking for massive top-end gains, but I'd like to remind you it's just a tuned B18C1 block with a different head and better cams. With FI and a B18B, some nice numbers can be achieved.

and while the head is off you can get some high compression pistons, maybe even sleeve the block just build it up and you'll probably make more power that way than swapping in a type R

swapping is expensive, bottom line... work with what you have and i assume that if your car is a 98, your engine is still fresh enough and strong enough to boost. if not, rebuild the bottom end, get a 3 angle valve job and go nuts... but... if you change your mind, maybe i know somebody to buy your engine....

I also agree with FatBooty. I've had underdrive pulleys and they are worthless.

You could easily throw a nice T3/T4 turbo kit on there and SMOKE C5s with little effort. There's a local guy with a stock B18B in his civic hatch and a T3/T4 turbo running about 8 psi and Hondata. He runs an easy 13.2 1/4 with room to grow. h:

To be 100% honest, the C5 is more about bragging rights to those that aren't very familiar with the different engines than anything - imho.

It's so much more worth while to have a well done B18B that is fast as crap than it is to have a $4k engine with a pretty red valve cover.

i was thinking of a ls vtec but i was looking at a spoon create engine or a g sport beast 220 whp not f/i cant go wrong with that
why are underdrive pullys useless? i have noticed gains in hp.
and my budget is almost unlimited thats why it is a hard choice.
guess i could go turbo but i was looking at a vortec supercharger. no lag.
thanks for the in put guys. ill be back.
