Default gs-r noise

hi i'm looking into getting a used lude or gs-r (with the $5000-$9000 i'm gonna get... not too sure about parental help....) ... but the thing is i heard that gs-r's are more noisy than the ludes. i want to go gs-r becaue i hear they're less expensive and they are more of a performance vehicle. But is there any way to make it quieter in the cabin?

I dont think it's that loud inside the car. You could get new tires and that would reduce the road noise.

And on the expensive part, integras are less expensive because there are more parts out there for them.

If you want loud, try a '92-'93 GSR. They got a lot more refined starting in '94.

It's all relative. The Prelude is a heavier car with more sound damping materials and has a bigger engine with longer gearing so it doesn't rev as high.

In either case you will discover it's hard to find a GSR or Prelude VTEC because they are kind of rare and the slower versions of the cars were produced in huge numbers. All '97-'01 Preludes have the VTEC engine but they most likely won't be in your price range. Not to discourage you of course, just be aware it'll take a bit of effort.

Best thing to do is go test drive examples of both cars and pick the one you like.

actually... i've seen fifth gen preludes in (what was said to be) good condition for for around $6000 or $7000... craaaazy! if only i had the money right now. see... first i have to sell off my 98 maxima gxe. and before that happens i gotta take it to the body shop... anyways... i digress.
so what you're saying is that the smaller b block is just louder than the h block?

Anything for that cheap would probably have insanely high mileage.

The B block isn't necessarily louder, just that in a GSR you will generally see higher revs than in a Prelude.

There's a significant price point difference in parts with those two cars. Go with the GS-R, it'll save you more headaches than looking for 'Lude parts.
