Default goddamn noise....help please...

Problem: I havea ticking noise that varies with the alternator. The noise is present even if I unhook the incoming RCA wires into the amp. If I turn off my radio the noise is still there.

The noise started right after I tried switching the speaker output wires from my amp.. to bridge the 4 channels to 2 channels. I tried switching them back but the noise is still there.

I think the noise is being picked up by the speaker wires...

amp: Eclipse 3640.

Any help on how to get rid of this noise?

power wires and speaker wires are close together... but the RCA's are far away from both.

What kind of noise can be picked up and sent to the tweeters even if the radio and amp are off?

Someone told me it could be the passive crossovers picking up the noise... right now the crossovers are in the doors. But there wasnt any noise before I un hooked the wires to do the bridging.

If I perhaps reversed the polarity of some of the speaker wires... can that cause it?

It shouldn't. If you did that, you would just get cancellation and it wouldn't sound as good. I have my crossovers in the door and they seem to be ok. The only thing i can think of is that the speaker wires are picking it up somewhere. Could try some tinfoil around the crossover to help shield it. Other than that i dunno.

hey quick question...for my car, i've been having engine whine for the longest time. For moofoo's wire layout, he ran the power cable and speaker wire together and the rca cables on the other side. For my car, i ran the power cable with the remote cable on one side, and the speaker wire and rca cable on the other. Now is that the reason for my engine whine? thanks!

Well there are supposed to be atleast 18 in between the rca's and power wire. I would think having speaker wires with the rcas shouldn't cause a problem but i can't say for sure. My rcas and speaker wires are together and run down the center. I have a suspecsion my deck or the wiring harness right near it is causing it. When i move the deck it stops. Its starting to really get on my nerves ive had to pull the deck out too many times.
