Default Problem changing my axles...

That stupid spindle nut is destroying my arsenal of wrenches. The notch was bent out, and I don't know what the problem is. I just sprayed some penetrating stuff on to loosen it. Am I missing something? the car is on the ground still, but it is just really hard to turn. Which direction should it be turning in to loosen? Thanks, I need this info ASAP.

turns counter clockwise to loosen. make sure the bent part is bent back out and pretty round. Get a breaker bar. Or a good ratchet and put a bar on the end to extend the ratchet. maybe step on the bar if you still cant get it off.

Or use an impact wrench. That is the only way I tackle that axle nut.

Get a good quality breaker bar and socket. Slip a 6' pipe over that and stand on it. It takes quite a force! Or if you have access to air pressure and an impact, definately go that route. I love IR impacts

I have replaced both my axles and my trusty 1/2 breaker bar and socket did the job nicely, I did have to put a foot to it tho. I would like to invest in an electric impact wrench one day if I can find one with alot of torque.

Buy a milwaukee, but I recommend an impact powered by air pressure. Charging batteries is a pain!! Congrats on getting the axles changed.

Thanks guys! It's done now. I used a breaker bar and the pipe from the jackstand and it came off. I also sprayed some of that peneterating sheot on there, I guess that might have helped some. I appreciate it!

Aerokreoil is your friend for rusted on bolts and nuts. I used about ten-foot of cheater and broke my breaker bar in half before realizing that I didn't punch the tab out all the way. D'oh!
