Help ASAP (Axle changing problem)
How did you get your axles back in for all who have changed them? my passenger side was a biatch to get out, and now it still has a little bit to go. I figure thats not all that safe. But I figured if I hit the end end of the axle(by the axle nut) i would end up breaking some part.
Lemme know.
Also, does the car have to be level when putting MTF back in? Cuz I lost like 1.5 quarts, and with the car sitting like it is, it is up to the fill level bolt.

DO NOT hammer the end of the axle. You will break it. Put some good quality lithium grease on the splines, slide it into the gearbox and push till it clicks and the end housing is all the way up against the gearbox casing. It really shouldn't be that hard.
Ideally it should be level. It should hold 2 quarts so as long as 2 quarts are in there, it doesn't matter if it is level or not. Also, i would use Honda MTF. It is more expensive but my manual seems to shift easier since I switched from 10w30.
just my 2cents

shhiet, well, Its in, but i dont know if it is all the way in. I tried and tried forever!
And how will I know if I am low on fluid then? Cuz it seems to be full, and it shifts fine, but what should I look out for?

You should hear/feel the c-clip catch hold when you put it in. Also, once it's in, give it a little tug--not a balls out tug--but a little tug to see if it comes out.
Basically, once you put the car back together, the axle isn't going anywhere. It's sandwiched in there between the brake/hub assembly and the actual transmission.
You did put some grease on the splined end before sticking it back in the transmission, right? I'm pretty sure the manual says to do that.

It is probably in just fine then. It seems to me, the biggest mistake people make when working on their cars is over-tightening everything. I torque wrench isn't always necessary, but pple need to get an idea of what 50ft-lbs, 100ft-lbs, and 200ft-lbs feels like.
Oh yeah. I almost forgot.
CV Joint Grease is the grossest thing to ever hit the face of the earth. It's caked up all over your brakelines and stuff when the boot goes. Nasty shiit!
And multi-purpose grease is a close second.
