Listen to StyleTEG; there have been a lot of posts recently on "should I chip/what ECU to get". Aftermarket ECU's are tuned as the "one size fits all variety". You'll have immediate power gains but as you add on more mods you will not be able to maximize your power gains unless you tune the car yourself. In the long run it's better to invest in a V-AFC and some dyno time.

whoa, thats not good man. you need to upgrade your valve train in order to rev that high. my GSR's rev limiter is at 8200 but the springs and retainers on them are set to handle that kind of speed. the rev limiter is there to PROTECT your engine, not to restrict power. i wouldnt be reving that high in an LS unless i wanted some bent valves, or i upgraded the valvetrain. valves open and close like hundreds of times per second at that kinda of RPM..be careful.

Whoa, i'm starting to have second thoughts about installing this now. I have a cutom turbo set up, and with that already my engine is under some stress. Hmmm, anyone want to buy my chip...

hey Meguel24, you should be fine with the installation, and if it doesn't work, where you bought it from should be able to fix that. Their great guys!!

reason why i bought my chip is because I have a built head waiting to go on my engine, this will enable me to redline higher without breaking internals.
The valvetrain is only 1/2 the equation to higher revs. You'd better do some research on your car's crappy rod ratio.

Oh, and listen to StyleTEG.

Is the power gain throughout the whole revline o just at the end?

Seems like people are still confused about da chip...

An aftermarket ECU is like a "one tune fits all" deal. It's like tuning a stock type-R on a dyno, programming it's ecu to make max power for that particular car, and selling that ecu to you for your ls or gsr. Obviously it's not nearly as effective as tuning your own car yourself, but it's a cheap way to get quick power if you only have a few mods. If I'm wrong please correct me

People 'should' be going to a place like this:

http://www.japanese-auto.com/main.html

Not buying a one-size-fits-all chip.
