there's a japanese brand of spray paint specially made for blacking out taillights.... there's 2 kinds... one's permanent and the other one is non permanent.... it smokes it to change the color rather than to block off the light... it will dry clear

You could either tint it yourself by using window tint, or you could get spray tint that is specifically made so that light can shine through. You could probably go to summitracing.com and get a can of VHT spray tint.

Ok. Go ahead and reduce the effectiveness of your brake lights so that next time an old lady with bad eyesight behind you can't decipher if your brake lights are on or just your normal lights and rams you. That'll look real good when an officer shows up, sees that your tail-lights are illegal, and the other driver's insurance faults you based off of his police report and refuses to pay your damages. You're then forced to file claims against your colllision, pay your deductible, not to mention incur any points or court costs due to the ticket as a result of said modification. You'll also probably end up being sued by the other driver for damages to her frail body. She will win. I'm just trying to look out for a member. Pardon me for the intrusion.

i was thinking more along the lines of your "rice" but if if you ment it that way i agree but nothing i've added for my car i've asked is this safe. Primarily because if i did, then anything i wanted to do i wouldn't be able to. Except even though you are right, LED's i have shine extremely bright compared to my normal bulbs and i have a third break light in my rear window. Also if i wanted to be even more cautious i could get a spoiler with a LED light in it.

Okay well think about this: how the hell would light shine through solid black paint? It can't. So the best option for you to pursue is to get the spray on tint and put it on whatever sort of taillights you prefer. And try to put in bulbs that light up the proper color (which I'm assuming you've already done).

That's not a wise thing to say to the owner of this site. :squint:

This constitutes your verbal warning. Next time, you'll get points.
