I did this on my car.. Use the VHT NightShades brand available at your local Ramcharger store. Its a transparent so it will still reflect light even if your lights arn't on. Looks good on a black car. I can post pics if you wish.

It looks kinda dull upclose Zimm... maybe a few clearcoat layers would make it glossy again.
As far as the teg tails go, you can really get creative by masking out just the backup light, or do just the "trim" (where the light doesnt light up), etc... i'm still stuck on what parts to paint or not.
