How hot is the valve cover? If i use wrinkle paint that is rated at 350 degrees, and then engine enamel on top of that (rated at 500 degreees F), will that withstand the heat? And also, i if paint other parts that are rusted with the engine enamel, should i get rid of the rsut first?

 

wrinkle paint should do you for the valve cover, I don't see why ya would want to use both, I would just strip the oem wrinkle paint crap off and use the engine enamal, probably look a little better.

What parts are rusted? In most cases it is probably not a bad Idea to get rid of the rust first.

 

Well i was planning on sort of keeping the wrinkle look, and then painting over it with a steel gray enginge enamel. So the valve cover doesn't get any hotter than 350 degrees F? The bolts on the header heat sheet and the heat shield itself are pretty rusted, and just bolts in a lot of places. And also the canister right next to the brake fluid container on the right side, not quite sure what it is, but it is total rust. It was an east coast car, and of course they salt their roads quite a bit up there.

 

I think you should be ok to paint it, worst case senario you have to paint it for something else, but most wrinkle paint is made for valve covers. as for the heat heat shield and what not...you shouldn't paint it you should go find some headers and just get rid of that crap :-p, but if ya wanna paint it go for it! Then about the thing that is rusted to the brake master cylinder...what year integra do you have, and is it a five speed or an automatic?
