Default Starter and some other probelms

Can someone please tell me where the starter is located?

Heres the story

1995 Accord Coupe / 78,000+ miles

Took my car out of my garage and drove it down the street just fine, then midway in second gear, (just teling you what gear i was in), i heard this loud grinding noise then the car turned off. Tried starting it again and it will crank but wont start.... well eventually from trying that now the starter is ****ed cause it no longer cranks, just clicks. in order for me to find out what the hell the grinding noise is i gotta get the car started. The battery is fine, and so is the distributer and timing belt. But right now i need to get the starter off, where is it located? And what do you think the grinding sound might have been? the starter? the tranny? the engine?

The starter should be toward the rear of the tranny. It's bolted to the tranny, and its gear protudes inward to engage the flywheel and crank it, which starts the engine. The clicking sound is usually from the starter not being able to engage the flywheel. Your starter should look something like this:

Are you sure the timing belt is ok?
After you install a new starter, open the oil cap to make sure the valvetrain is moving when you crank the engine.

If your starter is stuck, I would check for flywheel damage as well.

**** man! check for flywheel damage!!! arrgh seems like one probelm after another, yea i got the starter out, but to look at the flywheel, this sounds like a chain reaction of probelms, i bet i am goin to have to get a new engine.

i really dont want to take my car down to honda and get pissed on in labor charges, how would i check the fly wheel?

Just rotate the engine via the crank pulley and shine a light thru the starter hole and make sure the teeth on the flywheel aren't messed up. Taking your spark plugs out will make it easier to riotate the engine by hand. The crank pulley bolt is 17mm, I believe, and you should rotate it counter-clockwise.

Ok, since i am going to rotate the engine via the pulley, shouldnt i be able to kinda feel/hear the pistons moving up and down? cause those might be ruined if my timing belt isnt on
