GSR block, which head should i use?
if your gonna do turbo than dont waste your money on a vtec head, a b18b head has minimal valve overlap, that will give you better throttle response since the cylinders will fill up with boost faster....and its way cheaper

the key is to strike a balance, flow vs. velocity, u have alot of things to think about when porting heads, and it dont matter what honda head u use, the vtec heads are flow tested higher than non vtec heads, i'd rather use a non vtec head u got more room for port configuration, which includes ur bowl blend, valve job, shortside turn, port pockets, the runner, chamber, polishing, roughing, it all makes up the comfuguration, and depends on ur application, like in drag racing, autocross, or what ever, and the focus is making reliable power too, but in these honda heads, u dont need to go over board, ur goal should be to reshape and refine, facotory head r not perfect but can use some touch ups
when porting a head ur lookin to maximize the volume of air entering and leaving the head w/o losing air speed(velocity) volume is important bc when u draw more air into the cyl, the engine needs more fuel, maintaining velocity ensures the increase volume reaches the cyl. so some ppl have they're own say so in porting so there is no im better than the other, theres no right way, u need something for ur application, striking a balance between flow and velocity, so larger the port slowin the air speed, small the port more airspeed but not enough air to feed the enigne of it demands, ppl often remove to much tryin to make better flow which tey're r hurting airspeed, ur tryin to make the heads flow as efficiently, the better the more power, port work is based on low mid and high lift flow numbers, most ppl look for high lift flow numbers, me im the more to the mid numbers to make more use of my power band, but of all u have to take ur time at it and do ur home work
well what i meant was that stock for stock i believe that an ls head would be better for a turbo app. than a vtec head....of course with aftermarket parts you can do anything....as long as your pockets are deep enough.... i may be wrong though

Why? The LS head doesn't flow nearly as well as a VTEC head. The valve overlap with stock GSR/B16 cams is minimal, and doesn't affect building boost.

ur right, the ls head does'nt flow better stock, u did'nt get what i said, u have alot of room for port comfiguration, these vtec heads r pretty much almost perfect, honda engines dont make 100hp a liter, they are made to make 100hp a liter, via; high compression cams, timing, duh, u port a vtec head, u can gain like 20hp, u take a non vtec head, u can get any number u want bc it sucks, no high flow, it just has velocity, plus most non vtec heads, like the f22a accord motor, has alot of room for alot of lift, and better valve angle, i have had 45-60hp ls heads through porting, bad to say those motors dont exsist anymore due to oil pump failures, not enough vacummn to supprt cams and port configuration, plus usin big cams u need more vacummn and oil pressure, but like i said its all about having fun, when u wanna do it serioulsy u need to do ur homework

And what the fuck is high compression cams? And you don't need more vacuum pressure.
Go away.

High compression cams and timing make 100hp/liter? What the fuck are high compression cams? I'd really like to see these LS heads that make 60hp from a port job...because I've never seen one. Since when do you need vacuum and oil pressure to run big cams? And since when do nonvtec motors make more power than nonvtec motors if the setup is the same? I haven't seen one. And since when do LS motors not exist because of oil pump failures? Sounds like you need to do your homework. And I guess we'll never get any dyno charts or timeslips now that your "project car" is "gone." I guess the accident slipped your mind in the first post, which was a whopping 2 minutes before the accident declaration.
