via; high compression cams, timing, duh, u port a vtec head, u can gain like 20hp, u take a non vtec head, u can get any number u want bc it sucks, no high flow, it just has velocity, plus most non vtec heads, like the f22a accord motor, has alot of room for alot of lift, and better valve angle, i have had 45-60hp ls heads through porting, bad to say those motors dont exsist anymore due to oil pump failures, not enough vacummn to supprt cams and port configuration, plus usin big cams u need more vacummn and oil pressure, but like i said its all about having fun, when u wanna do it serioulsy u need to do ur homework
