Default Problems with Suggestions?

90 - B18A1 into 95 Civic EX

Also Automatic to Manual Conversion

Hey guys, i'm almost done with my swap & wanted to know if you can think of anything that i may have overlooked?

I've already taken care of the Cable clutch issue by customizing the hydrolic peadel that i got.

I almost have all my wiring done.. integra's engine harness & crossed the wires onto the civic's car harness. Then cross the car harness back onto the integra's plugs for the ecu.

I mounted the cable spedomenter into my civic's gauge cluster & got the spedo cable hooked up.. due to the fact that the civic's was electronic...

........... is there anything else that i've overlooked???

Boy, you just insisted on doing it the hard way. Cable conversion for a EG, cable speedo.

Go around the car and nut and bolt it. Grab a 10,12,14,17 and 19 mm socket and make sure every bolt it tight and perferably follow a Helm's manual and make sure they're torqued to spec. Make sure all your fluids are full and filters are clean and new and your ready to go.

Did you wire up the reverse lights? What ECU are you using (just curious).

did it the hard way coz we fully built the B18a1 for another car & ended up changing our minds with our plans & didn't want the motor to go to waste!!!

I'm using the ECU out of the 90teg GS

whats the scoop on the reverse lights? haven't got to try that out yet being that i haven't connected my battery but are they not going to work?

Are you using some sort of conversion harness to connect to the ECU? I wasn't aware there even was a pre-OBD to OBD I conversion harness. I've seen the other way around to plug a P28 into a EF car for a SOHC VTEC but not the other way around.

I'm just suprised you didn't change out the tranny from a hydro one. That would have given you an electroic speed sensor, hydro clutch and bolted right up. Did you have to fabricate some mounts to hold the tranny. I thought the cable units bolted up a little different.

From my understanding of auto/manual swaps, an automatic uses a sensor on the shifter itself to turn your lights on. On a manual, there's a sensor on the tranny itself. It's just a matter of finding the proper wire and extending it to the engine bay but I don't know the specifics (color, location, sorry). I hope it runs good for you.

I'm in the process of making my own harness

under the hood i spliced the TEG ENGINE HARNESS onto the CIVIC CAR HARNESS

Inside the TEG at the ECU i cut the connectors off with 4inch's of wire so that i can wire those plugs to the CIVIC CAR HARNESS, so that the plugs will go right into the TEG ECU which is now located in my CIVIC.

it's somewhat hard to understand because of the wiring mess that this swap involves.. i haven't found anyone else out there that has done it so that i can ask for advise so me & my ASC buddy have been brain storming the entire time!

if i can finish my wiring i'm going to attempt to fire it up tomarrow.. i hope everything goes as planned!

Didn't have t fab up any mounts.. they ligned up perfect.. i used some washers to fillin the small gap that was there.. as far at the hydro to cable clutch issue.. they do mount up differently so i took the hydro pedel that i got from JOSH & fabed up a way for the cable to connect to it & i spring loaded the pedel.

I'll have to post something one day with all the crazy mod's you have to do to get this crap to work!

I think I saw a bracket you fabricated to bolt the cable to the pedal assembly, looked nice.

I understand basically what your doing, as far as wiring is concerned. To be honest, I'm glad your doing and not me. Hell, at that point, I'd probably just pull the entire Civic harness and rebuild your own, at least for engine to ECU connections.

Thought about it, but the wires were already in place so i figured hell, i can play a color matching game..

Good luck with the color matching. So the tranny bolted right in? I though the older cable chassis used a front crossmember and the tranny bolted that? Maybe that's only the older Civic chassis are built that way? I also believe the HaSport cable/hydro conversion kit comes with at least 1 custom mount (a top one I believe) to bolt the tranny in. Maybe they just include it because the way their kit works (it just actuates the cable with the hydro's slave cylinder).

I'm only using the 2 side mounts & the Rear Mount as of right now.. if the motor seems to move to much i'll fab up a front crossmember & put a mount on it.. if not.. screw it!!!

Like i said.. i've modded the pedel so that it works.. i have the clutch cable directly connected to the pedel.
