has anyone ever seen or heard of anyoen making a homemade supercharger. what i mean is like how people use junkyard turbos and custom make kits, could i get a supercharger from lets say a truck and somehow mount it onto my civic?

 

not likely. Unlike turbo setups where you can mate nearly any turbo to any car assuming you have an appropriate exhaust manifold, roots and twin screw superchargers are generally engineered to be engine specific in shape, dimensions, bolt patterns, sensor and vac line compatibility, etc...

It might be possible to mate some random centerfugal supercharger to your car if you make a custom bracket, get an appropriately sized belt/drive mechanism, and do some creative oil routing (depending on the style of the compressor). Ultimately, it would be pretty hard to pull off, I'd imagine.

 

what r u talking about? any old centrifugal blower would work... and the amount of work required in making brakets, pipes and lines is equivalent to a turbo setup... i've read on other forums of people putting VW and other eatons on fords and mazdas and they run fine. some guy actually did a 5 psi setup for < 500$. it all depends on where u get the parts, and who does all the work.

 

I'm talking about the many superchargers that have integrated intake manifolds and associated hardware. I suppose any free-standing supercharger could be made to work, but any car-specific integrated system would only work for an identical or very similar head disign (in terms of head orientation, IM bolt pattern, and associated sensors). Like for instance, you would have a hell of a time putting a honda JRSC on just about any other car.

If its a non-integrated system, I suppose youre right... theres no reason it couldn't be made to work.
