Default Engine Code P0107

I have a 99 Honda Odyssey and the DTC showed code P0107 which is MAP Circuit Low Input. I guessing it's the EGR because of really bad idle or the O-ring because of oil on spark plugs. The vehicle has been running real bad lately. When driving and the rpm hit 2800rpm, the whole van will jerk back and forth. If I hit the gas more so the rpm goes over 2800, the van will brake itself slowly until I let go of the gas. It's really weird because traction control is also on. Does anyone know the problem?

Well, the first thing I would try is to reset your engine computer and see if the trouble code goes away. You can do this by pulling the fuse marked BACK UP in the under hood fuse box for fifteen seconds. To facilitate the best reset possible, turn off all accessories before turning off the car and then let it cool for several hours. Then after you pull the fuse turn the car back on and let it idle with no accessories on until the temp gauge stops rising.

If the code persists, you most likely have a bad MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor. Basically this sensor's job is to tell the engine computer how much air is entering the motor by reading the pressure in the intake manifold. It can fail either electrically or it can pop a seal and no longer hold vacuum. There's a small chance you could also have a wiring problem or vacuum leak somewhere but most likely the sensor itself has gone bad.

I went and search the internet and found some possible causes for P0107:
1: EGR boost sensor malfunction
2: Open or short circuit between EGR boost sensor & PCM
3: PCM malfunction

Now what is a boost sensor? I've already made an appointment, but if I can resolve this by myself, it would save a lot of money. I'ts not the EGR itself because I just replace it, then drove it for a couple of miles.

A "boost sensor" is another name for a MAP sensor.
