Default Where Has My Vtec Gone? Calling Code 22

Well I searched around the forums and found nothing on this so let me post it here! Well I was driving my h accord a few nights back and it was running great goin into vtec and pulling hard! I met my g/f after work and headed home.. we get next to each other and decide to race.. i drop it into third and at hit it.. when all of a sudden i lose a bunch of power. I slow down knowing something was wrong. and i floor it and i go into where vtec ushually pulls and i do not hear the familiar loud sound or pull! I go home park it and try again.. I took a look at my wiring to make sure nothing came loose! and visualy inspected the engine bay! i take it out again today let it warm up and try goin into vtec. It sounds like it goes into vtec but it is a very small sound when it kicks in.. and there is no power.

Well the next day I decide to take out the vtec controller and resolder and shrink my wires and put the ecu back to normal! I reset the ecu and start up the car! Ta daa... code 22 apears! Vtec pressure! I tested it when i had my vtec controler hooked up with a voltage meter and it seems to be sending a signal! ive even tryed changing the switch itself! What to do??

check your oil level, i bet you are missing a a bunch, code 22 is vtec oil switch.

First thing to check is oil level. If the oil level is good, and power is being sent to the VTEC solenoid, and you don't get a good pull, then the solenoid is bad.

Yeah ive checked oil level and it was good! Im getting power... ive tryed switching the vtec oil pressure switch with the one off the accord f22.. i wasnt cliping together but it went to together..obviously it wouldnt of stayed if i drove it around but i figure it was still getting power.. and it still through the code on! Can I bypass this system?

alright.. im coming to the assumption that somethings wrong! when i did my swap i added the vtec conroller and what not... when you swap the h22 in the accord It says that you are suppose lengthen a temp senor and run it back to the back off the motor. well i didnt do that... i just put the harness closest to it on. Its hard to explain what ive done. origianally the f22 had two temp gauges i guess you would call them.. one on the front of the motor where the top radiator hose goes and one on the bottom radiator hose on the thermostat housing.. i figured it was what told the fan when to turn on and off. So when I turn the key on my fan comes on immediatly. What i was really suppost to do what put the wires that originally go on the front to the rear and just take off the other sensor, sense the prelude h22's only have the one sensor~! Well i go to my car today put the key in the ignition so i can test for continutity just one more time on the vtec oil pressure solenoid.. the fans running on like normal.. as soon as i take of the harness that plugs into the vtec oil pressure solenoid the fan turns off! Yeah that seems like a problem to be.. but wait.... My f22 originally came with vtec.. i didnt have to add anything just mostly plug and play... and than i think well why did it work before... im so confused now! Why did it work before? than all of a sudden stop? i tell you this is going to be a headace!
ok so i went out... and jumped the vtec oil pressure and the rear thermostat plus with a wire.. i went and turned on my car and no check engine light came out. so i was thinking good i may have got it! i let the car warm up and temp up there.. and decided to gradually take er up into vtec in second.. nothing... maybe just a very slight sound difrence! but not the normal rooooar and kick! so i get out and put it back to normal... plug the two back in, in the appropreite parts! and the c.e.l light comes back on... guess what it was.. yeah 22 vtec oil pressure! I just cant figure this booger out

u may need a new solenoid

i dont know if your f22 vtec solenoid will work on the h22 but its worth a shot, see if all the ports line up properly, and if it will even fit

if your getting a code 22, than something is either wrong with your wiring (most likely a loose wire somewhere), or the solenoid isnt getting pressure.

i periodically get a code 22 on my car for no apparent reason, i had to run 3 wires for the VTEC system when i did the swap. and all my connections are good, if i reset the ecu the code goes away for a long time but out of the blue it will trip sometimes.

i personally think that my problem is related to the type of wire i used. the resistance on the wire i used, i believe it to be too high, and since the pressure switch runs on a variable resistance value, i think sometimes due to some small anomoly the ecu gets pissed at my choice of wire.

well i thought i would let everyone know Im a dumb ass! Seems that when i did my swap I didnt hook the vtec pressure harness up to the sensor correctly! The plug that goes on the vtec pressure switch is blue/blk brown/blk! I had a blk and green wire on to it! Im a dumb ass! Wouldnt you think where the solenoid harness comes out... the vtec pressure switch harness should come out to right? yeah i guess not! The plug is about a foot away! I just still cant believe that it worked fine before! Im thinking my cars is Ill at times.. Heres my next problame thought.

Hey everyone i just had a quick question! I just resolved a problem i had with my cars vtec.. Ive never ran this car w/o my vtec controler on. I have always setup the h22 to enage at 5000. the ecu i have in my car i bought off ebay and it was jun chipped i believe like a 5700 or 5900 vtec engagement and what not. Well tonight after figuring out why i was getting a vtec oil pressure code. I took it out for a test drive.. w/o the vafc on! It just didnt seem to roar like it does at 5000 or pull anything like it.... Is this normal and indeed that you can have vtec engage to late? im hoping that there is not something else wrong.
