Default slow imports?

i am not bashing imports but it has always seemed kinda odd that some of these low displacement imports/sport compacts can kick out some serious numbers on the dyno and have have a great output per liter but why cant they put this power to the ground when it counts. i was at the dragstrip tonite and there were a few good imports out there. SVT focus and GSR integra stood out a little. these cars ran consistant 10s in the 1/8th i know it has alot to do with the driver b/c face it some of these kids just cant drive. but even ran to their full potential at stock power i really aint too impressed. i just feel that 180hp should be able to do more than it is doing. what are these kids doing wrong? what should they be modifing to really use what power they have? it makes me feel bad when my friends stock DX runs high 10s-low 11s and these other cars with near double the hp are only doing less than a second better times. help me to understand this and again im not bashing sport compacts only trying to understand why alot of them dont live upto their specs.

I would think the weight transfer and lower torque are hurting the FWD imports.

Well if you look at 1/8th mile numbers most FWD sport compacts will get their asses reamed 24/7. Hondas in particular really shine in the second 8th of the quarter. Just takes us a little longer to get into our powerbands.

My crx weights... 2150 with driver, and i have a GSR engine W/Itr head, I/H/E and im running mid 13's in the 1/4

Never ran a 1/8 mile, 10-11 seconds seems way slow though

I think I ran like a 9.999 1/8th in a stock GSR.

But I don't trust Milan's sensors except at start and finish. They don't spec the stuff in between very well.

Yes, but a stock Teg Gsr weights alot more that a Honda Crx, not to mention i have a Itr Head.

So why did you quote me?

10-11 sec 1/8ths are average for most stock sport compacts.

there are alot of kids out there who nothing about a proper launch, clutching or really how to build a fwd vehicle. of course a rwd car with 15 inch tires is gonna tear it up off the line and with more dispacement u get the torque required to jump the car off the line which our little imports lack, my crx is very fast, but off the line i can either just spin my tires, or start off gradually until i get some traction, and I'll be the first to say MY CAR HAS NO TORQUE, with my gf in the car (who is not fat... lol for the first one to jump on that one) its considerably slower.
