Yeah, I tested this a bunch one day after he told me about it. I was out at my dad's warehouse (i.e. private property, legal, etc.) testing this one one day. I wasn't running at all, just testing various launch teqs. He's got enough room there to get me up to to about 45-50 in his lot before I have to start slowing down. But anyways, the powerbrake method works pretty damn well. In impromptu situations, it might not be the best way to launch, but when you're at the track or somewhere with time, I'd recommend it.

Hey, sensei, how do I properly heat up my tires? I don't play with the E brake much, but I figure it has something to do with that.

Well... this is a toughie.

Your best bet would be to probably do the power brake thing, just launch at the highest RPM possible and try to get as much spin out of it as you can.

Try using the water at the track, or bring a hose out next time you're on your dad's property. Power brake and spin your way out of the water. Just be careful, however, since as Nathan (camaro guy) said in the other thread, water in the staging lanes is very very very bad.

I've recently read some stuff about power braking pulling timing to compensate for the extreme load the drivetrain "senses", which would make yet another disadvantage to doing it. However, I'm not so versed on the subject... pretty much all I know about it was posted in the other thread. I found it worked for my slow-ass, automatic, stock non-turbo eclipse. 16.8 instead of 17.0

AVOID WATER.
If it's cold out, you may want to do a short dry spin (you might need the e-brake) to heat the tire surface up a little. That's what I usually do anyway (it cleans off sand/gravel, too).
If it's over 70, your tire will probably be as grippy as if it were 150 degrees. I really doubt you'll be exceeding your tire's grip, anyway.
Have fun!
