Gauge Cluster Question
variable speed sensor...its what reads your mph from the tranny???, not to sure bout that could be the distributor but doubt it, and relays back to the speedo for a readout. only reason i know this is b/c my friends 96 civics vss went out and his speedo no longer worked...until he hit a bump and knocked it working again.

And VSS stands for VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR. They are located on the back of the transmission. There is a gear in the tranny that turns the cable which turns your speedometer. The electronic ones just convert the turning of the gear into a signal the speedo can read.
I know that this is probably a "taboo" question but is there a way to adjust the Si cluster's odometer to accurately reflect the mileage on my car once it is installed? If I ever sell the car I want to be able to show the actual mileage instead of having to do the math every time.
Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks for the help guys.

I hope that it will be that simple...because I really want to get this cluster in my car.
What other major difference between these two cars are there...beside the obvious like the engine etc. For example, in the Si, there are lights in the trunk/hatch area...electrically speaking (which is wayyyy outta my knowledge base) will I be able to adapt these to my car. Things like that.
Your help is appreciated guys, thanks

Well, I did it. I managed to get my Si cluster in my STD...it was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be...the three main harnesses...snap, snap, snap. Then the harnesses for the flashers, rear defrost, and light intensity...snap, snap, and snap.
Then I tested it and...eureka!...it worked.
Then I had to undo it all and swap out my odometer from my STD cluster and put it in the Si cluster so that it reflected accurate mileage.
Snap everything back together, screw it all down, and bam...done.
Thanks everyone for their input

PS> So far I've taken off the Si the glove box (mine was broken/hinges), the mirrors (no passenger mirroron the STD) now I have two instead of one, the gauge cluster (swapped).
I have also removed the rims and tires, the rims were rusty so I ground them down (wire wheel on a drill), primed them, and painted them black today...these are being used for winter rims and hopefully I should have my winter tires on this week.
I have also removed the headlights (extra), the front bumper (future mod-stay tuned), the trim piece between the bumper and the headlights (mine is bent near one fender that got a ding) and the fenders (being sanded and painted in a couple of weeks) to replace one dinged and one rusty on my STD.
Also today I removed the manifold heat shield and started grinding it down (STD one is rusted all to hell)...so the transformation is beginning...slowly.
