Well, after one or two involuntary shakes, you're going to have one VERY pissed off thief who will not stop to destroy every piece of your car except the locked steering wheel. I'm sure they would try to short it out with water or something - AND, what if they were wearing gloves, I guess to protect against fingerprints (although what car thieves are really that smart and dedicated?)?
I wish the answer to that question was "YES! The Auto Taser will put any car thief into an instant coma, which only the Krypton-encoded key fob can bring them out of."
or even better "With the patented Islamic Law Upgrade package, a 550K electric shock will instantaneously char the skin of the thief up to the elbow, rendering the arm useless for at least five years - this punishment stems from centuries of arm amputation, legal under religious and civil law!"
Lastly: "The Auto Taser will provide a constant 50,000 volt current, locking the thief's hand to the unit, while simultaneously opening a hidden cage of cobras beneath your seat. After sensing a successful bite, the Auto Taser will entice the cobras back into their cage, and using the Seat Mobilizer to push the stunned and poisoned thief out onto the street. Voila! Your vehicle is intact."
File this under "If it doesn't exist, it SHOULD."

It's up to you, I have an RS3 on my bike, an avantguard 4 in my wifes car and a beast of alpine 8080 in my accord, and I'd take the avantguard any day. I installed for 5 years during school, and from experience my favorite alarms are prestige, not because they are are pieces of crap, but because I could have it installed in 15 minutes lol, and I charged 2 hours labor(the fun of being a sub-contractor), I hated cliffords, not because they are the hands down best alarm around, but because it took me hours to do a nice install with them

what research? and what features? It has built in window rollup, passive starter kill(meaning even if you yank the brain of the alarm the car won't start), wireless remote fuel pump disable(also known as blackjax, and THE ONLY ONE on the market), more built in relays than you can shake a stick at, programmable from remote or laptop, nightvision(it turns the lights on automatically at dusk), dual zone omni sensor remotely adjustable, self powered siren, digital tilt/motion sensor, and coded valet?????? Oh no wait that's an avantguard 4....hmmmm...and only $467 from here http://www.adelcom.net/CLIFFORD-avantguard-4-Page.htm

:rofl:The AvangGuard4-hands downt he best all around alarm on the market:thumbup:
barto-what was it that made you decide that the compustar was the best alarm out? Im very anxious to hear this. I checked them out, and honestly bro, the only good thing about them is the pager ability, cool looking lcd display that works from quite a distance(of course, only under the most ideal of circumstances) but it is lacking big-time in true security features. Did you see the list of featurs illusion rattled off? That's major stuff there, and he didn't even mention the intellistart remote starter(works on manual tranny, eliminates the possibility of starting the car if it's left in gear
) This alarm will run up over a G w/installation, but Clifford has quite a few other alarms that have many of the features listed above that are worth it(Matrix line not included).
Well my issue is having the pager. It is a must for me since your alarm does no good if you can't hear it. The distance on their web site is very conservative, and is about right if you are shooting through a bunch of buildings. You are correct about the features of the Avant Guard, but it is still quite a bit more pricey and no pager. This pager has helped a lot, and that is why I chose it over the Clifford. I can get this compustar for 450 installed and that is an extremely good deal since it does take a while to install. I respect your opinion, but the pager for me is a real must.
Also, their website is not quite up to date on some of the features. Like the alarm has 7 aux ports, not 2. That is the first thing that jumped out at me.

for a serious thief I argue about a pager, I had a friend come running to his car because of the pager and got met with a .357 mag slug in his shoulder, good thing the theif didn't know what hydrashocks or eagle talons are and that he couldn't aim for ****, or my friend would have gotten toasted. My personal preference for alarms is make them so obnoxious the theives won't even bother, and if they do it will be nice and painful for them. I'm using 4 interior sirens, 2 exterior, air horns, 4 strobes outside and 2 inside(these are whelen police strobes, not flea market APC strobes) and its worked perfectly, I've had two break in attempts on my car, and both failed, they set the alarm off and ran like the *****es they are. Now my bike is a different story, I have the RS3 on it because if some is screwing with a bike, it's usually not to steal it's stereo, and with the bike I can see what the thief if doing, not like a car with limo tinted window you come up scare the sucker and risk getting shot. In the end that's what insurance is for. If you have have stuff in your car that you can't live without and would be the end of the world if it gets jacked, it shouldn't be in your car to begin with.
Seriously, I never thought about that thing with the mag. The Avant Guard is a great alarm and I would consider it if I had the xtra cash, but as for price goes, I am sticking with the compustar, thanx for the info, it will help me out when I do have some extra cash around.
