Default Head Unit install question

My head unit got stolen, they ripped it out. I bought a wire harness, but bc they ripped out the deck, the factory harness went with it. Can I just solder the wires directly to the wires provided with head unit and not use a wire harness? also, all the wires are present on my car except the battery. Can I just hook it up directly to the battery? and also, is the power wire and ignition wire mean the same thing? if not. Im missing the power and the battery wire

-You can solder them right on. It is not the best thing to do, but it works. I would use a wireharness. It makes things easier later on.
-You can hook up a wire directly to the battery, of course you have to fuse it.
-Power wire is the wire that is constantly receiving power. It powers the unit for saving the time, the radio stations...This wire is yellow.
-Ignition power wire is the power that turns on when the ignition is on. This wire is generally red.

Go to a car junk yard and take one from there.

so whats the difference between the battery and the power wire? i dont have much electrical background, but when I hooked up my tach, there were only the ground and the power (which is attached directlyto the battery) to make it turn on. So for the head unit, do I attach both power and battery wire to the battery?

No.

-On the headunit, the red power wire goes to the ignition. That way when you turn on your car, the headunit is able to turn on.
-The yellow power wire goes to the battery. This gives a constant feed of power to the headunit. That way, the headunit can retain information like the radio presets, EQ, or clock.

If you connect both of those wires to the battery, the headunit will be on ALL THE TIME. Not good.

Just another reason to get the harness. Itll sort it out for you.

Like I said in my earlier post... go to the junk yard and get the wire harness from a junked civic. Match up the wire colors and solder. Once that's done, all you need to do is hook up your new deck's wire adapter to the harness and you are done. Nice and simple. A buddy of mine got one from the junk yard for $2.00!

actually if you connect the red and yellow together its not a problem.
You will have to manually turn off the radio each and every time you exit the vehicle.
My VW has no ignition for radio. I could turn on the radio with the car off and no key in ignition. Dont know why VW designed their cars that way but oh well....
