Having just started working and getting a paycheck for the first time in more than 4 years, I gotta say youre making a hefty chunk of cash if you can afford more than $3600 in mods plus whatever you've already spent in mods, plus the $350 a month for car payments, (plus insurance, gas, and good times (stuff you didn't mention))

You've got to have a sugar daddy, retarded amounts of debt (debt on a showcar=retarded; on school=investment), or youre a spoiled brat...or youre making a ton of money and prolly don't need to be in school in the first place.

Like some have said I think youre pissing away a ton of money on a car that is already a generation behind. Why would you buy a car for show brand new? Its not like it was the first year of that generation and you were the first kid on the block to have it. The car is barely gonna be a daily driver!! At least you coulda saved a coupla grand and bought a used 6th gen and hooked it up.

and the IS300 lights on a 6th gen ?? There have to be better tails for that car...bmw, TL/inspire, TSX etc...

to each his, err her, own

Sorry sweetie, I'm not being rude, just realistic. Why is it every time a pretty girl hears something she doesn't like from someone, they're being "rude?" I've never understood that... Anyway, YOU were the one who started this thread looking for opinions from others, we didn't just seek you out to offer them unsolicited.

I didn't want to say it in my last post, but I thought I caught a whiff of poor-little-rich-girl syndrome going on here, and you've pretty much confirmed my suspicions with your comment about how daddy will probably just give you your mom's old Benz to drive. Gee, must be nice not to have to EARN things...

And please don't condescend to someone you don't even know about how $18,000 in car payments is "what happens when you buy a new car...think about that one..." Sorry dear, but I've thought about it plenty. I just bought a new 03 Accord Coupe EX-V6 a month ago. I paid $16,000 down and financed the rest, a little over 10 grand. So, do you still live at home? I only ask because for most of us living in the real world $350 a month is most definitely not "petty cash" and you never mentioned rent or a mortgage payment. Speaking of school, I just finished my PhD earlier this year and got a pretty good job here in Athens, but I can assure you that amount of money is not as insignificant as you would make it out to be, not to me and the other hard-working people I know. Look, if you are a spoiled little rich girl, that's fine, you certainly wouldn't be the only one I've known (I've dated plenty of sorority chicks in this town who roll brand-new BMW convertibles their parents bought them), but don't just assume that everyone else lives life as you seem to...

Oh, wow...that's a lot to take in...
hmmmmm...
1. I LOVE the lecture!!
2. I am not a rich girl. Can't help it if my parents have money. And since you want to be such a jerk to me, let me run this down, you probably do not want to hear it but, I've lived on my own since I was 17. I moved out and lived with a selfish boyfriend. I paid for everything, no exaggeration. I worked 2 jobs and went to college for 2 years. My boyfriend became abusive and he beat me a couple of times. The most recent time he hit me so hard he broke the bone in my jaw and I had to get 3 fake teeth put in which cost 4k. I PAID FOR IT. i took him to court and i lost. they wouldn't look at my evidence. i had all evidence proving he did it. Daddy didn't help me out. My last car was a 95 passat. when my parents let me have it, i took over the payments and i paid my own insurance since i was so young it was 200 a month. then the tranny blew up and I recently traded it in for the accord I have now. My parents would not co-sign for me. I had to wait for credit to get a little better before buying it. I bought it by myself! They ripped me off though...out the door (don't laugh) i paid approx. 25k. I pay for my own insurance 150 a month. And No, I don't pay rent because I just moved back to my parents house in May when I broke up with my boyfriend. And I pay for all of my school for myself. So please do not tell me about the real world. I busted my ass working 2 jobs, going to school, paying for all rent, utilities, and taking care of HIS kid. Everything I have, I've worked for. And I know you probably think i'm spoiled because i'll get the mercedes, but to tell you the truth, i would not accept it if i did not need it to get me to work and school. Look, i'm not trying to give you a hard time, I'm just trying to tell you straight that I've lived "the real world" it was very hard on me and now i have more money because I have a better job, not just because I don't pay rent which used to be 800 a month....but do you understand where i'm coming from?

Seriously, thank you for your input I was just thinking about that the other day like if that was really what I wanted. All I know is that I want to do the taillight conversion because I really do not like the tail lights.

Any suggestions for little 'ol me???

is your accord a coupe or sedan? i'm not sure if it's possible, but these are the hottest tails i've seen in a LONG time.

if you could get these installed cleanly onto your accord ...  :bigok:

Off da hook yo! I would like to see that done.

:dunno: AND We wonder why every other thread turns into a flame war.

Could it be that everyone adds fuel to an already burning fire!

:rick: Anyone want to take bets on how much longer until a mod closes this thread.

But, I don't have a kid (it was my ex's kid from his ex-wife, but i had to take care of her because he wouldn't).... but if I did, I'd sure be taking care of my responsibilities...
I don't consider it pissing it away...it's just always been a dream of mine to have a show car. Some people don't get it, but It's just what I want. I guess it sounds silly but it is my dream, or goal...whatever you wanna call it...

Well, assuming all of that drama is true (and if it is, you certainly have my sympathy)...no, I definitely don't UNDERSTAND where you're coming from (how could I?), but I do HEAR where you're coming from.

Having said that, I still have the same question as vtecinside...why would you blow money that could be invested in your future on a show car? Are you counting on a big inheritance from your parents down the road? Not trying to be rude, just curious...

everyone pls stop focusing on the $$$ issue

it's her car ... it's her money ... people are freaking out about $1200 a month for 3 months. big deal ... it's just money. there's more of that where it came from. it's her dream to own a show car and let her go with it.

i'm so damn tempted to lock this ...
