you still didn't answer my question though...how come the shop didn't tell you this earlier?? if i dropped my car for work and they knew exactly what they had to do and said 2 weeks, but them after 2 weeks said we need 2-3 months, i'd be like wtf?? now if they are too busy that's a different story.

....oh, sorry then...
anyway, I dropped off my car to do the front door panels, they said it would take 1 week.
it ended up taking 2.
they didnt know that i wanted to do all the other stuff right away. i didnt even know because i had to wait for more money to come in...
but he told me, "since we already have your car, it would be best if we kept it if you wanted to do all the other work right now"
I said yes. because i wanted to get it done soon. so it's kinda my fault, but it just seemed long for them to say that it would be like a few months. someone said it should only take a month, thats why i was questioning it....:dunno:

when a shop gives you a time estimate, double it, then add another 3 weeks. it's the classic formula of when you're going to get your car back. my buddy dropped his rsx off for some custom moulding, a dash wrap, rim install, and a paintjob in March ... it's already August and he's still driving his moms beater.

as far as your mods, this is only my opinion ... so it doesn't mean much

insert a motorized dvd screen out of the dash :bigok:
custom visors with screens :bigok:
screens in the headrests :bigok:
custom seats (either vinyl or leather)
tail light conversion (IS300)   down:
side moldings shaving
shaved door handles
fiberglass enclosure for custom system :bigok:

it's just the tail conversion is what's getting me. i know you're building a show car, but IS300 / altezzas aren't the best option. there are nicer tails to swap to.

Here's the skinny...my mom has a benz and I've been driving it for 2weeks now. She is going to need it this monday so i will borrow my boyfirend's other car until further notice. For Christmas, my mom is getitng another new benz (SLK) and she don't need 2 cars so I'm going to take over half the payments on that one so by then I will have a 2nd car but i guess for the time being, i'm kinda scrooed...

I would just pick up my car now and drop it back off after christmas but i'm sure they'll be really busy then and it might take more than 5 months to complete. I want all this done asap.
ya feel me?

Sorry Linda, but no, I don't feel you. You claim that you "budget really well", but you are about to increase your investment in a car you still owe 18 grand on by another $1200 each month??? Good lord, how many months will you be paying this work off? And on top of all that, you say you are taking over half the payments on your mom's Mercedes?? I'm no financial expert, but this doesn't sound very smart to me. Of course, I don't know you well enough to make that call. I suppose you could be making over $100k a year in some great job, but then again, you said you were still in school, so I don't know what to think...

Someone's being rude...
anyway, taking 1/2 the payment of my mom's ride probably won't happen. knowing my father, he'll probably just give it to me. and as for owing 18k on it...that's what happens when you buy a new car. ...think about that one... and i only pay 350 a month (petty cash) so aint no thang but a chicken wing...
i do buget very well, thank you very much, and i have extra money after the 1200 a month and car payment, etc...
1200 a month is what I will pay to pay it fast. i'll probably pay for like 3 or 4 months. that's it...no sweat off my back...
oh, and by the way, school means college. I'm going to get my bachelors and masters....
