Default Bummer.....

So as some of you may know, my car has been in the shop getting custom fiberglass door panels for the front doors. I went to Hawaii last week and they said the car would be done when I got back from vacation. When I got back I was really excited that I was going to see my car. Unfortunately, my car was not finished. It is now 2 weeks from when I dropped it off. The owner of the shop asked me if they could keep it longer so thewy can start working on all the other stuff they have to do. They are going to do:
Front door panels
Back door panels
Wrap the dash in fiberglass
insert a motorized dvd screen out of the dash
custom visors with screens
screens in the headrests
custom seats (either vinyl or leather)
tail light conversion (IS300)
side moldings shaving
shaved door handles
fiberglass enclosure for custom system

well, this shop is going to do all of this.
they want to do it all at once.
they want to keep my car for a few months.
a little outragous... what do you guys think?
If you knew you wanted to do all this to ur car, would you give up ur car for a few months?
Is a few months a little too long? :dunno:Feedback is nice!
Thanks

For one I wish I made as much as you do to have all that stuff done. 2ndly if I had a second car (which I hope you do in ur case), I would let them keep it. All that stuff sounds like it would take 3-6 months. So summer is pretty much over the they would work on it through fall and some of winter, yea I would let them keep it. Got a 2nd car?

Hi Linda,
How's the weather in Hawaii?

Anyways if you want your car to come out good let them take their time. That is quite a bit of work that has to be done. Any good shop would ask for a couple of months to do the job right. Patience is a virtue.

I don't make bank, I just budget really well. They are going to add up everything and put me on a payment plan. I told them I can only pay them $1200.00 a month though. I wish I could pay more but I have other bills. The accord isn't even close to being paid off. I still owe 18 g's...
Here's the skinny...my mom has a benz and I've been driving it for 2weeks now. She is going to need it this monday so i will borrow my boyfirend's other car until further notice. For Christmas, my mom is getitng another new benz (SLK) and she don't need 2 cars so I'm going to take over half the payments on that one so by then I will have a 2nd car but i guess for the time being, i'm kinda scrooed...

I would just pick up my car now and drop it back off after christmas but i'm sure they'll be really busy then and it might take more than 5 months to complete. I want all this done asap.
ya feel me?

You are doing fiberglass panels or fiberglass doors?

I am assuming panels is correct.

Having worked with glass before I know it is a long slow process to get it right since it doesn't take much to put a dip in the glass which ruins the overall effect.

2-3 months seems fair for all the work they are gonna put in on it.

Hi Will! The weather was great in Hawaii. I got a nice tan! I wish I was still there.....
anyway, yeah i know i should be patient, but it's just that I miss her...they better not hurt her...poor little thing, she's only a year old....
When I finally do see her (my car) it will be weird because I remember her a certain way and she will look totally different. I'm anxious to know how much they want for the whole thing.
anyway, if i go to see my car this weekend, which i probably will, i'll take the digicam so peeps can see my car.
i remember some guy was talking $hit to me about the way my car looked. he said it was amateur or something like that cuz I took off the hubcaps and have mix and match black widow body kit. the body kit is not my fault though. i order black widow #1 and they gave me black widow#2 back bumper. ground designs2000 are being @$$e$. not like i can return it or anything. i'll just modify the F%^k out of it though...

how come it took the shop a couple weeks before figuring it out that it would take 2-3 months to complete?? they should have known from the get go.

anyways..i'm not a big fan of all that custom crap, but if i was i would rather do the work myself since it would be a hobby rather than pay someone to do the work. you would get much more pride and enjoyment out of it when it's done. besides that fact you'll save a ton of money. generally people that have alot of custom stuff like that do it cause they love it and it's a hobby, not cause they think it's cool and want to pay someone to do it.

just my .02$

Ok.....
let me tell you something...since you don't know...I did the back doors myself alrady...I took the whole door apart and sanded, prepped, and painted the pieces, put them back together, reupholstered the door and added black vinyl and put blue accents. The problem is that I do not like them. I want to add more speakers but the way the door is, there is no room for more speakers, plus I do not use fiberglass. My whole car is gutted, all pieced were prepped and painted, BY ME...I want to do all this crap to the dash but I am not skilled enough to use fiberglass. So, thank you, but your 2cents unfortunately dont really mean anything because I am the only one who has aver modified my car. I put the projector headlights in, i put the body kit on, I installed the relay switches, I took out the seats and changed out the carpet kit, I did the shift knob conversion. don't think just cuz i dont have a peni$ that i don't know what I'm doing. i just really wasn't happy with how i did the door panels and i want professional quality. plus i have to work and go to school so time is limited. Ya know??
