h: even though you admitted it was a dumb question? Sounds like you already know the answer:dunno: In any case, my vote goes to stock shocks/aftermarket springs w/many miles to be more firm and hold up better than stock/stock(few miles). But the ride w/aftermarket springs will be more bouncy, not gonna be bad, but it will be noticeable, mainly cause the stock shocks can't handle the spring rate of the aftermarket springs. Hope that helps.

my 94 accord coupe rode about 2 1/2 inches low on stock shocks for about 8 months. the longer i went w/ stock shocks the worse the ride got...i highly suggest getting some different ones before you lower it!

A car is faster on an autocross course with stock springs and good shocks then aftermarket springs and worn shocks. Ride better too. Now that my car has adjustable struts, I can't imagine not having them. Some of the self adjusting shocks are good though, the Edelbrock IAS race-spec was fantastic for my old autocross/street car. I put KYB AGX's on my car, but I wonder if I should have done the Koni's, though a Honda Civic racer friend loves the Tokico adjustables. I don't regret the KYB's, they're good, and they do what I need, so I'm not complaing, but don't ignore the importancve of great shocks.

You can do it, but you wont get as much performance out of it. Your stock shocks will blow much quicker with the new springs. Save yourself some time and money, and wait to get new shocks when you do the springs, that way you're not going to have to rip it out twice to replace the springs, and then the shocks later.
