Default Are shocks necessary??

I'm going to lower my 96 Accord 1-1.5 inches with some Eibach springs. I was wondering if shocks were necessary?? Will anything happen if I don't purchase some performance shocks? Is it ok to ride on my stock shocks?? Thanks!

You can stick with stock shocks, but over time it'll feel bouncy. Get some KYB AGX. They run about $340 for all 4. www.coximport.com

I'm running on stock shocks for about two years and I have no problem with them...but i really wouldn't mind getting a set of KYB AGX adjustable shocks.

Your (popular) choices:
Adjustable:
KYB AGX
Koni Yellow
Tokico Illumina

Non-Adjustable:
KYB GR-2
Tokico Blue
Koni Sport non-adjustable

or you can just blow it all and get some Bilsteins or Teins

if your on a budget tokico blues will be fine, it's better than stock for sure and don't cost much like ~$275 for all 4.

i have pro-kits and blues and they are ok, a stiffer strut would be a tad better though.i wish teins were available 3 years ago.

You don't HAVE to get shocks at this point, I lowered my car on Neuspeed sports (1.75front, 1.5rear) and ran the stock shocks on it for about 4 or 5 months w/no traumatic experiences. The ride was a bit soft and bouncy at times, but it's not like they blew out on me. You will be fine w/that drop for a little while, given your shocks aren't too old, I have a 94 and don't know when or if the shocks had ever been replaced on my car and I was fine. Just save up and get some KYB AGX as soon as you can, like EliteAccord said, they are $340 shipped. I got mine there:thumbup:

if you're paying someone to do the labor, why pay twice? do the job right the first time.
