turboing a h22a?
ok i know what ur gonna say. use the search feature. well i'v been readin quite a bit on this and most of it is people bs back and forth. i want to know the real deal. what needs to be done for the h22a to accept a turbo. posibbly custom built turbo because turbo kits are expensive and i might know someone that might make one for me. but i want to know what needs to be done exactly to be able to run a turbo? my goal is run maybe 11's. i wanna roll up to cars that i think i couldn't posiibly eat and maybe beat or at least stay there wit them. i was deciding on gettin a civic because alot cheaper and alot cheaper to build up also. but everyone has one around here and not many have accords. so i wanna show them what an accord can do! i wanna be different. so can someone please calrify what has to be done and it is worth the time in puttin a turbo? how could i possibly hit 11's or 12's? thank you. and please no bs back anf forth. i hate reading threads that have about 2-3 pages ofthat when someone asked a really good question. thankx
Dude, Its been a while. But I helped install turbo's on 2 Accords in my whole life.(Note :I just Helped I didnt do it.) First thing off..You need to drop the compression in the motor. At least to a 8:1 ratio. I could go on forever about rods and piston's but you'll figure it out.. Get your hands on a Supra Fuel pump no problem there (Junk Yard). Injectors , heard people dumping 45 pounders in the motor. A good clutch a nice race clutch nothing harsh you dont need to snap CV axles doing burn outs.. Oh a known problem I've come across was trying to fool Map sensor..I've seen people use little test filters to reduce the line pressure to the Map..But from there on your in a whole new world messing with the ECU..They make Turbo manifolds for them no need for custom..I believe FMAx or Greddy makes them..This set up was from a T3/T04 hybrid setup...These were the things I did to help.Let me tell ya..It's a pain we barely had enough room for it all. Oh yea we snatch a intercooler up from one of those old Conquest, They're pretty big intercoolers for being factory.Personally I wouldnt recommend a Turbo for H22...Keep it simple and clean with a nice supercharger..At least that way you won't have to change the Texas tea out every 2000 miles...or sooner. Oh...Overheating the motor was another issue too..Yea dude if your gona spend the 3000 bucks for a H22a might as well spend another 3 or 4 g's and do it right and get a super charger..You will at least push 250 hp or more..I think I'm babbling again. Sorry I didnt make any sense.
Supercharger on a 4cylinder???
Man you are out there with that comment.
A turbo is many more times efficient on a 4 cyl than a SC is ever going to be....with an SC it takes power to make power which in turn lends itself to the possibility that it may negate any enhancement or at least lessen the power output overall of the modification.
Turbo works off exhaust pressure and although there is lag in the time is takes for the turbo to reach spool pressure it is still the most effective and power gaining boost device for a 4 cylinder engine.
6 cylinders can get away with it and 8 cyls definitley get the SC but 4 bangers should go turbo.

I've also heard that a H22 w/ supercharger won't exactly fit right in to an accord (5th gen) with out some MAJOR modifications. The preludes engine bay is bigger/longer than the accords. Of course anything is possible with the right mindset, heh and cash...

He was running like crap that day that I saw it and was pulling 14.4 or so but the turbo S2k at the local shop here ran a 13.2 before they shot the tranny in it.
13.2 and it was only pushing 8 lbs or so (not real sure) but it was far from its potential push.

I heard about that.Someone said he snapped the right axel? He was pushing it to with what a 12 something compression ratio? You know if he is going to rebuild it? I hope so with the moeny he dumped into it...
so whats the deal? what should i do? i know sc is out of the question. but i mean what about a turbo on the h22a. anyone own a h22a w/turbo on this board? all i want to know is it worth it? i wanna run at least 12 in my accord. i guess 13's are ok but high 12s would be nice. so what kind of setup do i need for this?? please guys give me some advice.
anyone have ideas? i know it's on this board all over this place but like i said before lotz of it is yeah u can do this and that and then no u can't do that u gotta do this. so please someone with the smarts make it clear for me and anyone who really wants to know. please keep these replies strictly to this topic. thank you
