I don't do neutral drops. With winter tires or all seasonal tires you can just floor it from a stop and induce wheelspin (lots of it for my car), but with my summer tires I do NOT wheelspin. $600 is a bit pricey to be burning rubber at every stop light.

My Accord is fast. And I came from an RSX Type-S. I don't know what you came from. Maybe you're just hella paranoid...have you tried driving any other 98-02 V6 Coupes to compare your car with?
No, I dont think its that I'm paranoid; you did say that automatics are slow without gobs of torque---yet you consider your Accord fast; I havent officially timed my zero to sixty, but what I was trying to do was explain the "experience" of off-the-line characteristics of my vehicle...upon initial throttle tip-in, she hesitates and does not launch; it almost feels like a sack of bricks are sitting on my rear deck....although the tach revs like mad, she seems to get "stuck" in one gear...do we, Accord owners, have to floor our cars each and every time out of the gate to get decent acceleration? As for what I came out of, I was in a 94 Accord EX coupe before this one, with the 145-horse VTEC 4, and that thing was even slower, with the auto.

Yeah my brakes sucked too, to the point where the brake shoe fell off last Friday!! Oops! But I had all the parts in my car ready to do the brake job, and lemme tell you new rotors, pads, brake lines and fluid make a helluva difference for this bad boy. I mean you can approach a stop light @ 60 mph and stop like it's nothing, no skidding, no startling sounds. Of course when I do that I get scared that the brakes might go out and I hit something so I save that for emergency braking now!
Butif you don't like your Accord you can alway ssell it and get a better car. But the suggestions I saw listed here, I think you should do those as well and rev that baby up and let it know who's the boss every once in a while, @ least once a week. Be responsible but have fun @ the same time...life is too short to live driving in the right lane only.
Do you honestly think its healthy to open her up every now and then---rev her to redline every so often? I have heard this theory, but thought it to be an old wives tale...I dont believe the car has been over 70 for any length of time....is it healthy to open it up every now and then----honest?

Yep, honestly it is because like people have said, carbon will build up in the internals of the engine and will make performance sluggish if you baby it all the time. Carbon will still build up, no matter how you drive it, but revving it up evry so often will make the build-up slower than it would it you kept rpm's under say 4k.

Plus the engine was designed to high revs and high speeds. It's kinda like your body: you can live life normally every day and not push yourself @ all (like most American's do anyway) but when you go to run or if you suddenly wanna push yourself then it will be harder than if you do it regualrly. Exercise your car like you would (should) exercise your body. But @ the same time, you know your personal limits, so you also have to know you car's limits. I try not to rev my car to redline, my personal limit is 6k because I think that is peak hp anyway.

There's something seriously wrong with your car :eh:

You should be reading some of the reviews lately like from edmunds. When they were testing the 03 sedan AV6 they said it didn't "seem" nearly as the altima yet both 0-60 times were basically the same. I think its just the way honda makes their engines.

My question to you is this, "why do you keep on complaining and rambling about a car that's way above average than most cars out there?" I don't post much anymore, but I hear your rambling posts here and there. Do you really expect a daily driven car to stay in its pristine condition throughout the years?!?! NO. I have 76K miles on my 98 Accord that I got in Oct of 97. Sure it has some rattles, but it's still smooth and rides nice. The potholes, weathering, dings and chips are all unavoidable external factors so you should just live with it. h: The more you think about it, the worse it gets.

I'm not complaining or trying to bitch; and I used the word "rambling" as a sort of self-serving humor factor, but I guess you missed the point; anyway, my point was that I have read posts from folks over in superhonda.com with the EXACT SAME issues---one such lad went as far as labeling his post "I Think My Accord Is Falling Apart..." and listed similar occurances as I do here....Im just showing concern with regard to the mileage and external stimuli exposed to the vehicle; Im just discussing something; not trying to get under your skin personally or anyone else's here....just discussing something, and seeing if at 39K, others have had similar driving characteristics with their 6 gen two doors; I know I need to "live with" the dings, scratches dents and weathering....but it's okay every now and then to vent about something, no? Isnt that what we're all about here----sharing feelings, thoughts, and, even at times, "ramblings"....just wanted others who could relate to the----oh how was it one of the other members put it----"beat down" feeling their cars may be exhibiting to comment a bit, too.

My Accord is at 34,600 miles and it feels pretty new still. The only thing that has been a reoccurring problem is the drivers seat squeaks (a little WD-40 every month cures this) and there's a rattle in the B-pillar I need to track down.

Otherwise, runs and looks brand new. :dunno:
