Has She Had It At 39K?
I think your shocks are blown from what you've said. You need to have your car serviced at a dealership so they can check it over.
And your car must suck, because my V6 is pretty damn fast. Torque isn't plentiful but it's enough.

What are the folks in Japan saying about their accord coupes? (all coupes are US built for years)
Dude your car never had a great suspension. Now its 4 years old.
The car was never a braking champion, now its 4 years old.
The tires on your car suck from the factory. Now they are 4 years old, brittle, more worn, and suckier than ever....Things do wear out.
You live on LI where every punk kid rolls in a 3 series or pimp SUV or more glitzy car. In your previous post you were looking at the gold package as a way to make your car "classy". Maybe youre just feeling a normal amount of envy. Hell I'm envious everytime I watch Mr Hyde wax his baby.
Youre car ain't perfect but its prolly not as shabby as you think. It was a somewhat compromised car in its development.....
BTW take that bad boy to redline some times (not always)...give those valves some real work! Trust me the car actually will benefit from it in the long run...I've looked at a coupla E30 M3's that were overbabied and never driven over 4500 rpm...not the same as the ones driven harder. Bimmer folks attribute that to carbon build up...might be the same thing in the Accord.

I've got a '99 Accord Coupe I-4 with 36K miles. The car has loosened up, but for the better. To me, my engine revs more freely, and in third gear she pulls away from traffic like there's no tomorrow. I stick to the maintenance very strictly and do all the maintanance myself. I've never had a problem, exept the bulb went out in my clock (5 minute fix). She still handles tightly, more so then my mom's brand new '03 Passat. I don't know what to say, I'm completely perplexed.

I have a 99 with 60K miles...I have no problems at all. I have upgraded the suspension, so that helps my satisfaction.

BTW...my car was one of the few 6th gens made in Japan. I have no idea if quality really varies by build location.
I've talk to my friend who is a honda tech. And he said that shocks just are kind of shitting on accords. With real anal drivers, they complain about it very soon after getting the car so he has replace then begining at early 30k miles. So that might be your supension problem, the shocks, also might wanna try the bushing. Upgrade your rear sways to the TL to tighten things up. And Honda Pads are not that great. And a turing your rotors won't help after a while, might wanna try new rotors. I was feeling the same about my accord. Bought the car off my dad, and he never pushed it. When i got my hand on it, i pushed it every now and then. I think it actually help the car to let it open up once in a while, give it a good work out.
Also after installing Brembo Crossed Drilled/ Slotted rotors and Axxis pad, the brakes feels great. So next is new shocks, or maybe new suspension set up.
Hope this long post helps.

I have my '95 since it was brand new. Currently it only has 74000 miles and it still feels great. I drive it hard, but I make sure I have all the service/maintaince done (it doesn't hurt that I work at a Honda dealership
) Absolutely nothing is wrong with my car and I still love it as much as day one.My parents have a '01 EX V6. It has been 2 years and nothing has gone wrong, yet. My '95 had a bunch of things went wrong in the first 2 years! The 6th gen is built in Ohio, while my 5th gen is built in Japan. Go figure.

go trade it in for a toyota. my friend's 98 had 110kmi on it, and i thought it was almost brand new. it was tight as a drum, no squeeks, noises, and totally smooth shifting.
my 96 accord has 110kmi, and ive driven that thing like a beast since new. the only things that have gone awry: drivers window regulator, door lock solenoid, rebuild auto tranny (expected the way i drive it.) there are the normal squeeks and rattles of a car that has been lowered since 22kmi and has had up to 3 12" sub woofers at some points.
as for not being able to stop on a dime, have u ever had the pads replaced? how are the tires? are they inflated properly? remember, you dont drive a sports car, its not meant to handle super tight, etc. you say u do a lot of local driving. local driving is much hard on your car than distance driving.
all cars will have forums dedicated to their problems..... my family has never owned an american car that didnt need repairs ever other month. both our mercedes have left us stranded with bad fuel pump relays. our odessey and accord have never broken down before. the odessey was an '00 with over 65kmi on it before it was totalled. it preformed just like new til the day it died
