Has She Had It At 39K?

I DO NOT drive hard at all----this car is completely BABIED....I sometimes annoy passengers because I drive so slow...I dont beat on this engine at all; I dont think I have ever driven her past 70...this is not the culprit.
I do proper maintenance; I bring her in for almost every scheduled Honda notice (aside from small, inbetween "37 1/2 K" kind of nonsense, you know....)
I had a 94 EX Coupe before this one, and I dont recall if it felt as bad, fit and finish wise....my father still owns a 97 Special Edition Sedan out in Vegas, with about 50 or so K on the clock, and aside from the horrible vibration that four-banger gives off, the car seems pretty solid still.

from personal experience my 92Ex was not as nice as the 91 SE which was made in Japan. the waterpump on the 92 went at 45k, at 65k the a/c shit the bed, which meant a hole conversion to the new refrigerant, and i never got the overheating issue fixed which was supposedly solved the a/c fix. i sold it at 70k for my 95 EX.

really, maybe you just got a lemon. my parents have around 50k on their all that has been done is oil motor/atf and filter oil/air changes and they are fine.

i have 50k miles on 2000 accord coupe V6, besides the one annoying rattle on my right side door, the car is flawless, haven't had a single complain yet.. also just replaced the tires to kumhos and the car is really smooth, especially on bumps.
that all being said, i am having doubts on my tranny, it has erratic shifting, i am going to wait till it falls apart then have it replaced under warranty.

Thanks for the input...glad to hear your experience has been positive; my car shifts erratically, too...but this has been a Honda standard since the beginning of time....go into edmunds.com and take a look at some of the Accord owners in there and how they indicate how Honda has incorporated this erratic shifting into every single tranny and engine---seems to be a trademark now. My 94 Accord EX did this -- my father's 1997 Special Edition jerks all over the place when shifting----to the point it makes passengers nauseas...Im not kidding. That 4-banger is so rough and jerky, it feels like the car is ready to die....yet, this is just Honda's "rev happy" system, or so it seems....
When Im in traffic, the tranny on my 99 does not like to stop and go; she lurches forward, expecting to accelerate, when in reality, I need to stop again because the idiot in the SUV and the SUV in front of him decided to stop on a railroad track....this engine does not like to be confused; her jerking and erratic shifting has always been a problem, even in the so-called "silky smooth" V6....
My old 99 Accord V6 had like 80k when she was totaled and I drove the hell out of her...she was tight as a drum. My current AV6 has around 60k and she's very tight. You must have a factory lemon.
They just don't make em like they used to. My 94 accord lx has 92k and still going strong (got it used with 85k). My friends 87 accord lxi has 350,000 miles on it and it still works pretty damn well for that many miles.

I am telling you---although you seem to have a rattle-trap-free Accord---that there have been TONS of complaints launched at Honda for the Accords rolling out of the company's Marysville, Ohio plant....please look at edmunds.com, under Town Hall, Honda Accord, and see all the problems lodged...they are unreal. This is NOT uncommon.
I have been hearing from so many other owners once this post went up, even privately, that their 99-on Accords are complete rattle boxes and ladened with nothing but problem areas....all I was saying was this vehicle feels like its coming LOOSE at 39K...could be the road conditions here, could be a dozen of other factors....all I know is the car handles like ass, corners like ass, and feels weak and limp under steering.

go trade it in for a toyota. my friend's 98 had 110kmi on it, and i thought it was almost brand new. it was tight as a drum, no squeeks, noises, and totally smooth shifting.
my 96 accord has 110kmi, and ive driven that thing like a beast since new. the only things that have gone awry: drivers window regulator, door lock solenoid, rebuild auto tranny (expected the way i drive it.) there are the normal squeeks and rattles of a car that has been lowered since 22kmi and has had up to 3 12" sub woofers at some points.
as for not being able to stop on a dime, have u ever had the pads replaced? how are the tires? are they inflated properly? remember, you dont drive a sports car, its not meant to handle super tight, etc. you say u do a lot of local driving. local driving is much hard on your car than distance driving.
all cars will have forums dedicated to their problems..... my family has never owned an american car that didnt need repairs ever other month. both our mercedes have left us stranded with bad fuel pump relays. our odessey and accord have never broken down before. the odessey was an '00 with over 65kmi on it before it was totalled. it preformed just like new til the day it died
