first off, if you loved your car any, you'd wash it, clean up the wheels, and detail her for at least a good day. Then you'll appreciate your car more. My accord dx ran strong the first 6 years. But then i noticed the power loss. I couldn't spin the tires in the automatic as much just by mashing on the gas. But the tranny still pulls hard. I love my car. It's good to me, and i'm good to her. If you keep up with tune ups, then she'll be good to go. I hope you didn't get a lemon'ed accord. Oh, i have 149,969 miles.

Cokinut---

Believe me, there is NO ONE who was a bigger wash/detail freak than me for the longest time---this car was in SHOW CAR condition when I first got her and maintained her at my original house I was living in with my parents, working ALL DAY LONG on a Saturday on her---she is San Marino Red, and she looked STUNNING was I was done detailing; but since that time, I have moved to my own apartment because my parents moved across the country to just outside Las Vegas (I still reside in New York), where I do not have a garage anymore (nothing I can do about that), so the paint condition is beginning to show---swirl marks and fading galore....but I STILL try and keep her appearance and finish up---and you are right, she does feel much more special and "new" when she's all shined and glossed up---theres definitely a pride about that; but, she is dirty in spurts just because here in the Northeast, there is NO WAY to keep a vehicle detailed up seven days a week; I work a regular job and it rains or does something else every other day, so how can I keep this car showroom condition? I drive it every single day, and have no more garage for it...because of this, she feels sloppy and old---I cant quite put it into words, but that "used" feeling is creeping into the sheetmetal, and it bothers me....

PS What year is your Accord?

Is that really the way you see it? Keep the car until it dies, and then go for a new one? I am only asking because thats an interesting way of looking at it----most people would get bored with one vehicle for its entire lifespan; but maybe thats the way I should look at my 99....keep her until she dies or develops MAJOR problems....why not? Right? Hmmmmm....interesting way of looking at that....its just that I WANT a four door sedan sooooo bad....I want out of this cramped little coupe!! Everyone I know has an SUV---and here I am with my little sports coupe; my girlfriend drives a Blazer, her friend she lives with, and her friend's fiance, who is my best friend ALL drive trucks---my friend is in a Trail Blazer, and his fiance is in a Pathfinder.

My 94 DX has 120,xxx miles on it and it still feels good to me.

When I get to feeling its old I usually put a couple mods on it and she feels good. Keeping her clean makes her feel not so old as well. Yeah she has some creaks and groans but nothing a can't tolerate.

Yeah I hear ya...thats what I did with MY 94 EX Coupe, where she was beginning to feel old and so I dropped some chrome rims on her to mod it a bit; I am getting close to doing something with this car---dont know what yet---although I really didnt want to kill that "clean, OEM look" I was going for---OEM rear wing, under body kit, fogs, 20% or so tint....

I have driven nothing but SUVs since '96 and just got this coupe. There is nothing at all I regret about getting a car. I have had: 95 4Runer, 96 Geo Tracker, 98 Tahoe Sport and 99 Land Cruiser (noice), and still, I am happiest with this car. I live in Rochester, NY where we got 10+ feet of snow this year. When I was telling my friend I was thinking about getting something like a Dodge Ram, he almost shot me. So I will say to you what he said to me...WHAT do you need an SUV for? They are the most useless of all vehicles. If you have a family, get an AWD minivan, if you need to haul stuff, get a pickup. If you don't fall into either of those categories, you should get a car. Then I started talking to him about 4/AWD and he asked me how often, living in rochester, I put my trucks into 4WD...and I thought about it....only to get up my driveway in 2 ft of snow. Keep in mind that all the aforementioned vehicles (save the land cruiser) were rear wheel drive when not in 4X4. Then there is gas milage to consider....Also, when you do need to haul something, you will save yourself so much money in gas, you could still pay a ton of money to rent a u-haul if you needed to and still come out ahead. And while we are on the subject of trucks....your friends chose the most horrid SUVs out. The Blazer/TrailBlazer are made like crap....I knew people with them ... at least 4 of 10 people I knew returned theirs under lemon laws. The Pathfinder (of old at least) is the weakest truck on the planet...sheesh. If you HAVE to get an SUV, at least get a Toyota or Honda......

I hear ya----but after coming out of three low slung two door vehicles---a 91 Nissan 240SX, a 94 Accord EX and now this 99 Accord EX V-6---I am getting a bit tired and bored with the low-slung sports coupe as we know it; its becoming a pain in the ass to sink down into the seat and the laid-back, low-slung driving position of coupes is also becoming tiresome; I hate it. I actually enjoy driving my father's '97 Accord Special Edition 4-door much better than my 2 door; the seating position is much more upright, the visibility out of the windshield is superior; the overall experience is better in that car. It could be I have reached my tolerance level for two door sporty coupes at 29 years old; I dont think they fit me anymore.

As for the SUVs my friends have, well....my friend's Trail Blazer IS a COMPLETE HUNK OF SHIT---you are right; his tranny has been worked on a dozen times already; he is trying to get rid of it and into a Monte Carlo before he gets married. My girlfriend hates her Blazer; she says its falling apart---as for my friend's fiance, she loves her Pathfinder, and my girlfriend loves driving it---they both say its as tight and rattle free as the day she picked it up.

As for me, I dont think I want to climb into an SUV just yet----but I DO want a roomy, large four door sedan, along the lines of a Chrysler 300M or Concorde, or perhaps the Pontiac Grand Prix or Bonneville....of course, I would LOVE a BMW 325 sedan, but I could never afford those f***in payments they want...

Agree.

My '95 has 75k on it. Bought it brand new and I still love it as much as day one. People who have seen my car couldn't believe it's an almost-8-years-old car!

'What??!! It's a '95??!!"

Like Cokinut, I plan to keep her until she dies. Meanwhile, I'll buy a GS430/M3/A4 or something when I can afford one. My Accord will be a perfect 2nd car/beater!

What makes you love it so much, just out of curiosity? And 75K doesnt sound like all that much mileage for a 95; my parents Mercedes E320, a 97 model, has 70,000-some odd miles and they drove it twice (I think) from New York to Las Vegas during their move out there...should I be concerned with my near-40,000 mile marker on my 99 coupe?
