However..

I want a car with good pickup in the low rpm range, good torque numbers (for decent accel off a stop light), and most definately good passing power on the highway.

Now, coming from the 3000GT's 220hp 6cyl and now the CL-S's 260 6 Cyl, I am really using both of these as a barometer for comparison with my next car. I believe that in order to get the VtEC 4 in the TSX going, you have to be in the high rpm range. Am I correct in this assumption? If this is the case, with A/T this doesn't always translate into a smooth driving experince.

One of the things I liked about the CL (even more than my 3000GT) was low-end torque and confidence instilled by 260 6 cyl power.

As for the TSX being "sportier" than an EX 6cyl, maybe suspension wise. Otherwise, I see the 03 EX Coupe with most of the "features" of my CL (ABS, TCS, Brake dist. system).

So far, I have not been impressed with the "stock" pics of the TSX. Of course, I will not pass total judgement on it until I take a look in a showroom. It may not look as bad in person. It's just that damn 4 cyl auto that makes me not wanna "take a step back" from powerful (220+) 6cyl engines.

Cheers!
You should have logged on to the acura.com TSX site yesterday afternoon, they had a chat QandA with the edmunds.com editor and someone from acura. They answered alot of the questions you probably have about the TSX. Get the transcript when it comes out on their site. Anyways, one of the questions had to do with low end torque- the edmunds editor repsonded saying he was impressed and it had more torque than any of the other 4cyl sport sedans, ie bmw 3, audi 1.8, etc... He also said that the engine revs up so quickly, it goes right past the poor torque range and into the midrange good stuff faster than any of those other cars.

As for the sportiness thing, the TSX also has VSD with traction control, ABS, plus a smoother 6 speed tranny, and HIDs

But for my final note, i didn't know you were planning on getting an auto, so for that id say the accord ex v6 will do you better justice...its not fair for people to get a sports car in AT

This is exactly what I needed to know (from the review of nctd.com)

There are at least two separate Honda Accords, each offering new levels of quality and performance for mid-sized, medium-priced cars. The V6 can be a sports sedan or coupe that looks and performs as well or better than the current upscale Acura TL or CL.

Default okay I have to clear things up here!~

I am new to tha forum. I'm "J" I live in cali and I have to correct some distorted facts I am hearin on this topic.

I have a 03V6 240hp 6speed accord coupe. No way can the tsx smoke an AV6. I mean the tsx is a 4 door rsx. The honda accord ALSO has a sport tuned suspension, short throw that I have to say is butter to shift, I mean its the same feel as the s2000 and almost like the cl type s. With the cl-type s you 260 with 2-300 more lbs... 240hp with the honda do the math the av6 is faster(not bymuch though? My bro has an acura cl type 6 speed and we were neck and neck. The interior of the av6 is plush and similar in feeling to the acura, except no navi, I have dual zone climate, and the systemis better on the honda than on the acura!!!!!!! hands down. Not offical but I will take it 2 the track to comfirm it but I ran a 14.6 @ 97-98. I mean shit I dont know how to professionally time track times but my bro hectorpushed start when I said go and this certain street in rancho is almost 1400ft long so whatever I want to race it but its only got 500 miles on it!!! it has 17 inch rims the auto only has 16's The honda sticker is 25,900 BUT good luck getting one! demand exceeds supply so expect mark'up!! 5 gs over is where the ONLY other dealer to have one is trying to get 4 it. I got lucky because I knew the sales manager. Try the fleet depo@ the dealer but they wont let it go!! trust me limited production 3500 est. this year!! I might be selling it so let me know if anyone is thinking about it silver w black perf, yes perferated leather(only 6 speed) carbon fiber (only 6 speed) power seat heated seats fast***** car!!!!! well I hope I helped out because the tsx IS underpowered and was reviewed as such.... it may be more luxury but I 'd rather smoke you than say hey nice interior as I blow by your "plush interior!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the board bro and congrats on the great car, but you're a little misinformed yourself:

1) The TSX is not a four door RSX. They have absolutely NOTHING in common (no chassis, no suspension components, NOTHING) except for the K block of the engine. The TSX is based off the European/Japanese Accord and comes with a very well tuned suspension.
2) The TSX 6 speed is faster than the 2003 Accord V6 automatic. That's reality. It's due in part to its lower weight, 6 speed transmission, and tall final drive ratio.
3) How can you say the TSX's suspension isn't as good as the 6 speed's until you or anyone else has driven them back to back? You're speculating.
4) Where was the TSX said to be underpowered? That pisses me off, because you made it up. I've read all the reviews, and it's faster than all of its direct competitors.
5) Noone said the 6 speed Accord was slower than the TSX. Relax bro, no need to hate. I love both the 6 speed and the TSX.
6) Anyone who pays over MSRP for the Accord 6 speed is an idiot. They will not be in as high demand as everyone has said...I have heard of noone paying over MSRP for it.

Just curious, why do you want to sell her?

I NEVER said the honda has a better susd. What I did say was that is does have one period, someone posted a statement subliminally saying that the honda did not. I read the review and I did light research on it. I was only quoting pretty much what my dealer told me about the tsx... same I-vtech as the rsx. I mean for 29,000 I can say get a cl type s. The tsx aimed @ the 3 series but cannot compete with the 330. Okay I believe you about it being better than a 325 ( I think it was you?) but who drives a 325?? the 330 should have been the target, anyway. for 30,000 ?? thats a bit steep for a small underpowered engine. The tsx is still heavy, and ONLY has 200hp to compete with anything that is luxury sedan you need a V6. I was going to buy
1. nissan 350z
2. wrx
3. acura cl type s
4. and the rsx type s I have NO idea how those car and driver mustered up a 6.1 o-60 because the quartter mile time sucks. My opinion of a fast car is 1/4 time of low 14's high 13's...
the rsx was tooooo slow!! all you hear is engine noise no guts, BTw do you know the torque rating on the new tsx because I doubt is breaks 200, the honda has 212 foot pounds of torque. Good luck if you do get the tsx but only expect to pass lexus is 300s and modded civic dx's. I don't really race everywhere but I love speed you fell me? Thats why I have the 6 speed! BTw dude have you seen the evo8???? check this out only 180whp!!!!!!!!! what a 30% loss from 276. meaning they sandbagged it , damn the car that will kick ass is the sti! I hope you dont hate on me, I value your opinion but I have the new srt-4!! I love it but everyone talks shiat!! that is until i smoke em late

You don't even know how to spell VTEC, so I don't think you lend much credibility to your statements

The 330i runs about $37,000 when equipped at the level of the TSX, which runs about $28,000 with Navigation. More people drive 325i's than 330i's :slap: Go look at BMW sales numbers.

What the hell are you talking about with the Evolution thing?

The TSX competes with the Audi A4 1.8T, the Jag X-Type 2.5, and the BMW 325i. All have less power and less value than the TSX. I think you're the only one talkin shit here. I still don't see proof where anyone who has actually driven the TSX instead of magazine racing has said that it's underpowered. 0-60 in 6.6 seconds doesn't sound very underpowered to me.

IMO, its nice, but I would like to see it with a V6. Then again, these days the I4's are making it into much more of the sporty cars. I personally would like to see a Turbo TSX some day. Either way, you dont buy a freaking TSX if you want something really fast! It's a entry level luxury sedan... just like they said... its for the guy who wants something a little more refined for his lifestyle in the business world... but still likes to drive and have fun.
