When I got my civic at 72K, it was burning oil about 1qt per 1-2k. I think it was a lot. I tried many additives but none of them helped me. Slick 50 was among them.
Later I got an engine for $150.00 and made a swap my self. The new engine had 29k on it. However I didn't notice any hp increase with newer engine. Still uncertain about that experience.

Mobil 1 is good stuff. Dont add anything to it.

FYI, my dads 98 Volvo is now up to 160k on the clock, and running strong.

That was what was happening to me, I switched to Castrol Syntec and it stopped burning oil completely :dunno:

I think those aditives aren't bad ot use in a old car with worn out rings and seals that could use a little bit of teflon to plug all teh leaks and smooth things out. But any car made after around '95. I wouldn't use it.

Never ever ever use it in a motorcycle with a wet clutch. It will ruin your clutch plates since the teflon will coat the friction surfaces.

It would not suprise me if that stuff clogs certain oil filters with hgiher effeciency filtration.

Synthetic oil - Mobil 1 or Valvoline .....Redline or Amsoil...

The only way to go, the whole "leaking" garbage.... only if the engine was leaking to begin with. I've ran synthetic in so many "high mileage" engines now, and have been nothing but pleased with the results. Ocassionally I found a new leak, but patched it up and life was good.

I've never used Slick 50 in my cars, but I've used the the Slick 50 lubricant around the house. Great stuff; it's not snake oil.

OK I've been using Mobil 1 for about a year and a half now. and since I switched my valves have slowly been getting louder and louder, especially when it's cold. I recently had my valve adjusted and the car is a little more responsive but the ticking is still there.

Any help? Or is this a biproduct of an engine with 130k miles on it?
