I have TL HID in my accord. Not sure what was involved in the install, I had it professionally done, but I can tell you that it is possible, and the install only cost me about 75 bucks. You just have to reaim the headlights, cause if you don't, it will definately blind other drivers on the road. It probably is easier to just buy a universal kit instead of fitting the TL unit in there, but at the time I didn't know any better, so I just had it done that way. Good luck!

well, for awhile, Acura owners were having their headlights stolen because the theives knew there was a market for them and they were easy to steal. people would buy it off ebay and other shady shops.

now i'm not saying your TL-HID were stolen, v6master. so don't become defensive as i'm not accusing you of buying stolen parts. maybe yours is from a true salvaged TL in the junkyard. i'm just saying there's a good chance that people who buy the salvage HID's are buying stolen parts.

i know how pissed off everyone here would be if they had stuff stolen off their car.

9006 kits are so cheap these days, it's much easier to get a plug-n-play kit than to have to cut wires. either way, retrofitting won't get you a great beam pattern to drive with because the stock lamps aren't that great.

I had HID's from a Lexus gs400 in my car... they worked ok... beam pattern really sucked though... I sold them a while back and I just recently put new HID's in the car. I got salvaged Maxima headlights from a body shop that replaced them... the car was smashed in the front, which screwed the headlights up. All the HID components were fine though. I retro-fitted the bulb shield (that funny looking thing that hides the bulb from the front) from the maxima headlights, into my accord headlights... then mounted the bulb clip assembly to the back of my headlights. The beam pattern is 10X better, and best of all there isnt any glare because the maxima bulb shield keeps light from hitting the bottom of the reflector... which in turn would shine up, into other peoples eyes.

I still say a retro-fit of Audi projectors would be much better, as my beam pattern still lacks compared to a factory HID headlight... but is a lot better than before, and theres no glare.

getting closer to ideal. unfortunately, as you've noticed already, the stock reflector doesn't distribute the light efficiently. you've removed the glare, just can't get the beam wider.

i'm glad you're voicing your personal experience here, though. i'm finding it hard to educate/convince others that ghetto-riggin' HID without proper shielding and placement of the arc is blinding to others. oh well, guess some people just don't care. :dunno:

well, its wide enough... it just seems that its not as bright as it should be... but what I did also eliminated the "hot spot" effect that you normally have.

Mine have always been wired to the stock wirring... there is already a realy for the lights... in the stock wirring. If it was too much for the wirring, it would blow the fuse first. HID's dont draw anywhere near as much power as a halogen bulb... the only time they draw a lot of power is to arc the bulb when they are first turned on... then the amperage dies right down.

Actually I got them brand new from the dealership...........definately not stolen, I don't like used parts. But I do understand that, a lot of people over on acura-tl have gotten theirs stolen.
