try the hybrid forums here or on HS for decent info.
the type S has mutliple differences. 20more hp and a litle more torque, it has better cams, 11:1 compression, hand ported and polished head as well as a better header. and it has a red valve cover, and either comes with an ATTS tranny or LSD tranny....

your best bet for an easy install is a 92-95 vtec engine. h22a or h22a1, is the one you want. the h22a4 has an open deck, is obd2, and that means a lot more wiring or an obd conversion (more money).

and anything beyond a start up warranty should be considered a bonus, after all its not like you are buying JDM junkyard parts.

obd is onboard diagnostics
there are several versions, most early 90s are obd1, most late 90s are obd2
hit up google or some other search engine for lots of info.

96+ is OBDII. They don't make an OBDIII h22a (here in the states at least), so no need to worry about that.

92-96 USDM Prelude VTEC came with an h22a1. 97-2001 USDM Prelude came with a h22a4. The a1 is OBD1 and the a4 is OBD2. The 92-95 JDM Prelude came with an h22a which is the motor you see selling everywhere on ebay and stuff. If swapping into a 4th gen accord as you are you want the h22a or the a1. They are both OBD1 and your car is also and the only wiring you will have to do is the VTEC solenoid, knock sensor, and VTEC pressure switch and then all that back to the ECU. If using the h22 tranny you have to use the prelude tranny mount otherwise all the accord mounts work perfect. The type s is a waste of money, take the grand you save and put together a junkyard turbo and upgrade your fuel a bit and you will put down around 250 to the wheels and be a low 14 second accord. The only thing i like about the type s is the LSD tranny, but you can get the LSD insert for about 200~250 and make your tranny LSD. Then again your choice, if you have any other questions about the h22s just PM me or ask i have read A LOT!!!

if you would like to pay for new axles every month or so feel free to use the prelude axles....h22a.org, the hondasociety FAQ and the superhonda faq also reflect the fact that accord axles are the way to go.

I have heard that, but I have also heard that the Accord axels wont hold up the to power of the H22. :dunno:
