I tried changing my driving style in my 03 accord 4 cyl. Trying not to pass 2000 rpm while accelerating and not passing 3000 rpm on the highways and increased my mpg to 250-260 miles for my whole tank...sounds right, the majority of those miles are city. Does that sound right? I'm in nyc and I took the car to the dealer and they said everything was fine and that their was nothing they could do. So I switched up my style and there you go....is 250-260 miles for the tank better??

Well obviously it depends on your driving style and situation dude...and miles/tank tells us nothing, everyone fills up at different points.

well its definately better than before.

The way i look at it, i rather pay few bucks xtra every month and have fun driving rather then drive around like a grandma.

for the past month i've been averaging about 15mpg (it can use a tune up). 225miles until i fill up about 15 gallons in there. But i'm always having fun driving it. I keep it in low gears so i get better acceleartion.

I have a 2006 6-6 HFP Coupe.

I will get 30 miles per gallon on 93 octane BP. It has gone as high as 32 mpg.

The car performs really very well and there really isn't a lot I can complain about.

There is also a 2006 6-6 Sedan in the family. It seems to get 26-28 mpg on 89 octane BP and won't go better than that. I guess it has to do with the extra weight it carries compared to the Coupe.

I had no idea you had a 6MT, George...

I haven't noticed any difference in fuel economy related to octane rating. My best tanks of 33-34 were all with 87 octane BP. I've noticed that 6MT gas mileage is highly dependant on the driver...some people get high teens in the city, I usually get mid 20's. I don't have the navi/trip computer but I did some testing and figured out that I average 34MPG doing 65 and 31MPG doing 80 (it's pretty linear for the speeds inbetween) so engine speed isn't that big of a factor esp compared to my old 6th gen AV6 which got 26MPG at 80 :chuckles:

i dont know exactly when ur vtec kicks in, but mine on a normal highway driving, kicks in at around 76-80mph (thats when my rpm reaches around 3100). so as long as i stay below that, i get better mpg, but i dont, lol.

It's possible that it's more related to a misrepresentation of the ethanol content.

The secondary intake opens at 4000 and it comes on the cam at 5000.

You can accelerate fairly briskly and still get good gas mileage as long as you're shifting below 4000.
