Cd player wont play burned CDRs
I've never had a problem playing any type of burned CD-R or CD-RW's in my old accessory single disc player or my new 6CD player. Experiment with different brands.

There is DEFINITELY a problem with these stock Accord head units and their ability to play certain brands of CD-Rs as evidenced when I went through TWO of these things after an installer friend of mine tripped the anti-theft code by pulling out the fuse for the head unit during the subwoofer box/amp install  ; BOTH these factory radios had trouble reading some of my CD-Rs, mainly the ones I mentioned, the Maxell MUSIC PROs.
Regardless of that, this has been an ongoing recognized problem for awhile now; just check back in the archives.
Coupe, sorry about the language. Didnt realize it was offending anyone.

And why did you buy a new radio when all you had to do was get the security code
"Well then I guess I have had two magical CD players from Honda."
Apparently so, because if you look through the archives and search this problem, you'll see it was common on the sixth generation head units.
"As I said, try different brands. All head units have problems playing certain types of CDs."
Not true; ALL my CD-Rs play fine in other cars ---- EVERY OTHER CAR I HAVE BEEN IN --- except for my 1999 Honda Accord.
"And why did you buy a new radio when all you had to do was get the security code"
*SIGH* Alright, let me explain what happened here.....he pulled the fuse which tripped the anti theft code for the radio, but the code that was supposed to be entered for my radio WAS NOT WORKING NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES WE ENTERED THE NUMBERS.....I brought the car to my dealer in NY at the time, who told me the radio was definitely defective because THEY couldnt get the code to enter either. They ordered me a BRAND NEW stock head unit for my model AT NO COST because this was just a great dealership (it was the dealer I bought the car FROM and had ALL my service done there too so they cut me some slack). It was a great deal I got from them.
BUT, the SECOND Honda/Alpine CD head unit did the EXACT SAME THING with the CD-Rs as my first one did.

You seem to like arguing very much, sir. I apologize for stating my own personal experience, which of course must be fabricated because I have nothing better to do with myself.

Case in point is you arguing with me that my CD player played CD-R's fine. Why respond to it at all?
"well dude"
First of all, dont call me dude; if we're going to act like adult, civil human beings on here which you demanded of me earlier with my choice of language and which I IMMEDIATELY respected and adhered to, lets try and do just that.....I know thats asking A LOT from most members on here, but lets give it a try, okay?

Oh really? Can you give me an example of this because THIS REPLY BELOW:
"you arguing with me that my CD player played CD-R's fine. Why respond to it at all?"
makes ABSOLUTELY NO LOGICAL sense to me.....
And please answer my question to the best of your abilities.....DID I NOT simply answer your question of WHY MY RADIO NEEDED TO BE SWAPPED OUT due to the code being tripped? CAN YOU PLEASE ANSWER THAT without going any further with this, and then we can proceed? I answered that question and explained WHY the radio was swapped out in a clear, precise manner, did I not?

Gonna have to bump this, but I have the same problem.
I just purchased a 99 Accord EX V6 coupe and I had with me This Day Forward - Transient which is the real disc, and a burned underOATH disc. The cd player plays the real copy fine, but couldn't play the burned disc. The strange thing is that our family owns a 00 Accord EX i4 sedan and every disc burned played fine in that thing. I am currently using RiTEK cd-r's from newegg, which are supposed to be pretty good. I'm not sure if different brands matter, but I will try discs from different manufacturers (pro-disc, CMC, and even the expensive Taiyo Yudens) to see if it works...
Thank god my new coupe has a cassette player, might as well forget about cd-r's and just buy an ipod or zen micro...
