Which brand CDR are you using now?

Well, being that I just relocated from New York to Nevada, my equipment is all packed up in boxes, so Im not using anything at the moment, nor making my custom mixed CD-Rs like I used to; but no doubt, the BEST brand of blank CD-R on the market FOR HOME AUDIO RECORDING USE --- NOT COMPUTER BURNING --- are these Maxell MUSIC PROs....they are professionally designed to give your copied CD-R a much more original-like sound from the original source CD you are recording from, if thats what youre doing as I do to make custom mixes......even those these Maxells dont play good in my Accord's deck, I sacrifice that for the quality these discs are made with.

If you stay away from these Maxell PRO CD-Rs, you shouldnt have a problem with another brand of AUDIO CD-R.

No problem; like I said, the Maxells are the best brand of BLANK AUDIO CD-R out there right now, the MAXELL MUSIC PROs that is, but they DO cause the "laser malfunction" problem in the Accord's CD player which is common with some brands of CD-R.....so what you are experiencing is not unusual. Try using a top-name brand like TDK or MAXELL (but NOT the MUSIC PRO ones because they'll just take forever for the laser to pick up as it does on my player) and see if you still have the problem.

Are you using a computer to burn your CD-Rs? The best way, contrary to what you might hear, to burn CD-Rs is through a stand-alone AUDIO CD recorder component, such as my $800 Marantz DR700, NOT via computer.

As I said in my above post, my Marantz DR700 WAS over $800 new; I dont even think they make this unit anymore as this was one of the FIRST CONSUMER GRADE CD recorders to hit market when I bought it.

I have a in-dash changer in my 98 Accord, and have no problems
even with cheap disc's. I know if you have a changer, you do not
want to put labels on the disc or it may get stuck. I know this
is not related to your problem.

Is this a STOCK changer? His problem, and the one I experience in my car too, is related to the STOCK ACCORD CD decks......

Ironically, its NOT the cheap discs that give the problems --- like I said, when I use these special PROFESSIONAL GRADE CD-Rs from Maxell, THOSE are the ones that wont get read by the laser for a good five minutes or so; it DOES eventually play, but you can grow pubic hairs waiting for this fucking thing to read the CD......
