Default HID kit questions

I'm trying to buy an HID kit for my 98 accord. right now i have the stock headlight and the bulbs. i was looking around and i would see 8000K,6000K. i really dont' know what the (K) value is for, does it make them look more blue if it's higher? honestly i'm looking to get that purple color. i know i need the 9006 low beam converstion kit i need some advice and some suggestions on this and if anyone could help me get a good kit for a good price (i can only pay up to $200 shipped no more than tha) by the way i did use the search but i just couldn't get the information that i was looking for thanx.

K is the temp the blub burns at, creating different colors. The higher the K the less output you have, a 5600 or 6000 will be good.

Keep in mind that any bulb with a color temp over 4300k is sacrificing some performance for looks. Once you get past 6000k it is very noticeable. i woudlnt recommend anything over 6000k as it looks illegal, and is also cutting your light output significantly. 4300k is the standard HID bulb color temp for every car maker, but projector headlamps make some cars headlights appear to have a very blue tinge to them. 6000k bulbs due a nice job approximating that color, and dont sacrifice much compared to 8000k, and the other completely useless bulbs higher than that.

please tell me you're going to do a retrofit and use some projectors to aim the light, or use the TYC headlights. I just want to make sure you know that if you just throw in a HID kit into the stock housings your going to cause all sorts of glare and blind oncoming traffic.

8000K is too blue. it'll look like you jammed a smurf in your headlight housing. 5100K is a nice blueish white, 6000K is a bit more on the purple side.

4100 and 4300 are the best range to work with.

Negative............I slapped in the HID kit into my stock housing and I dont produce any glare onto on coming traffic... ( Tested this out )
Maybe since I have those eyelids maybe it decreases glare?

putting HIDs in ANY stock halogen reflector headlight WILL blind oncomming traffic. Only ways around this is to retrofit OEM HID Projectors or make a shield that will cover the bottom half of the HID bulb. Ok, now that thats over and done with... stick with 4300-5400K OEM bulbs... anything higher and you lose alot of output, almost making a HID kit worthless.

Also keep in mind that you'll have a ton of stray light and "hot spots" as the halogen reflectors are not made to work with such intense light. Nothing beats OEM HID projectors or reflectors and you'll never come CLOSE to the output of either with HIDS in a halogen housing.
