Default 1990 Blown motor?/timing belt broken!!

My firend has a 1990 4DR LX that broke the timing belt whle going about 25 or 30. His mechanic friend replced the belt assuring him that it was a non-int. engine. Well as we all know here it is one. So here is the dilema:

He can apparently start up the engine and it runs with a new belt. However,it is missing a cyclinder. So it probably has a bent valve or something. What are his options?

Should he replace the head? or part of the engine that would require very little work. Or just scrap his old engine and get a new one?

If i am correct the F22A1 enigne is what is in his car. Can any more recent engine bolt right in to his car with little changes or modifications?

This is his only way to get to work so he needs help pretty bad.

i'm not completely forsure but the accords are supossed to have clearance on valves when the timing belt snaps so there should have been no damagr there if it is a cylinder it is not from the timing belt

No they are interference motors and the pistons will kiss the valves when the belt breaks.

I just bought a used 1998 Accord EX with an F23A1 engine. It has 93,000 miles and probably needs a new timing belt. If that belt breaks, will that engine be ruined?

The closest Honda dealer is 90 miles away. I will need the radio code if my local mechanic replaces the belt. The manual says to contact the closest dealer, but they will not reply to my emails for help? Anyone know how toget the code?

The stereo code was printed on a little plastic card in the owner's manual package when the car was new. Dealers need the stereo serial # to look it up, maybe you gotta prove it's not stolen?

It's an interference engine, but it's still dumb luck whether a valve gets bent during the couple seconds it takes for the camshaft to coast to a stop. I wouldn't risk it - get the belt changed.

All you have to do is call your damn dealer for the code dude...why are you bothering to email? I BS'd my way into getting mine. Worst case scenario, you'll have to take the head unit out to get the serial number on it. They can usually look it up by VIN number. Best way to do it is to call the dealer that the car was bought from.

I replaced my belt at 125k...just check it youself and make sure there're no cracks or anything on it. Mine looked and felt brand new when I took it out.
