Default 1990 Blown motor?/timing belt broken!!

My firend has a 1990 4DR LX that broke the timing belt whle going about 25 or 30. His mechanic friend replced the belt assuring him that it was a non-int. engine. Well as we all know here it is one. So here is the dilema:

He can apparently start up the engine and it runs with a new belt. However,it is missing a cyclinder. So it probably has a bent valve or something. What are his options?

Should he replace the head? or part of the engine that would require very little work. Or just scrap his old engine and get a new one?

If i am correct the F22A1 enigne is what is in his car. Can any more recent engine bolt right in to his car with little changes or modifications?

This is his only way to get to work so he needs help pretty bad.
