Sometimes, it's just pure accident -- you cant always be concentrating on everything at every single second. Humans will wander, mentally. And even during parallel parking and whatnot. It will happen.

Heck, even Motor Trend did a full length editorial on the Accord EX coupe in like 98 or 99 or something, and they had a close-up view of one of the car's sawtooth-style 15" alloys, and the caption read "The Accord's wheels are prone to curb scrapes..."
I have powdercoated dark grey rims on my car and have had them on for coming up on a year...I have yet to curb them.

This is where knowing your car and being in control of your car at all times comes into play.

Yes, well, I need to say that my car wasn't "out of my control" when these scrapes happened. They just happened. This damn drive through lane was so tiny I wouldnt have been able to fit Britney Spears' twat juice soaked G string in there....

Then you don't park there

Don't be mad about it just calculate the risk a little better...if you want to have a custom vehicle with nice rims then that is just what you have to do, you have to take your time with certain things that way.

I have a slammed as hell 91 wagon and a performance lowered 94 sedan as well as a monster Jeep and a stock Blazer ...each of these cars I drive completely differently and I swap from one to the other without missing a beat.

I know I can't drive the blazer the same as the Jeep or I would get stuck.....I know I can't drive the wagon like I do the sedan or I will rip the underside out.....I know the rims on the wagond don't matter so I will get closer to the curb with it then I will the sedan.

These are just things you take into consideration if you want you shit to stay nice....otherwise you are going to be whining and moaning over your rims all the time.......LEARN YOUR VEHICLE...the number 1 most important thing you can ever do.

hey...um...do you like movies? :eh: Random as hell man.

It's the monthy "my car is getting old and it's pissing me off" post from DJ Scotty.

Like Nightshade said, you just have to be careful. All the guys on here with 17, 18, 19" wheels are at risk for wheel scraping on the curb, no matter what the design. The key is if you don't get real close to the curb, you won't scratch you wheels.

I don't let other people wash my car, just cause I don't trust them. If it was a pro detailer that would be one thing, but the kid at the local car wash, I'll pass.

As far as wheel repair, you could just check out the shops that offer it. Some will do it in house, some will send out I'm sure, just depends.

If you are really anal, you could probably buy two new wheels depending on repair price and how good of deal you get on new wheels.

Yeah, Shmiddy, but see I just CANNOT hand wash my car anywhere where I live; it is way too cool outside here and I live in an apartment complex with no garage; where can I do it by hand? I need to bring it into washes. Its a real problem. It is too cold to do this by hand during this time of the year.

Haha, yeah, I used to brag at how I never touched a curb EVER whenever I drove. This is when I drove my dad's minivan, my Accord on 15s, and when I had the 18s. However, ONE day, I lost my concentration and just barely touched the edge of a Burger King Drive thru. My rims are $240 a piece, so I freaked when I saw the curb mark right at the edge of the lip. It's barely .4 inches long, and like barely 1mm thick (I'm not exaggerating). After I washed it, the cement debris came off and it looked much better. If you aren't looking for the mark, you wouldn't notice it. I could fix it if I found a perfect paint match, but the risks of screwing it up aren't worth it...

Anyways, curb marks don't "happen." If you are going to spend money on bigger wheels, you are going to have to learn to be careful with them.
