Like Nightshade said, you just have to be careful. All the guys on here with 17, 18, 19" wheels are at risk for wheel scraping on the curb, no matter what the design. The key is if you don't get real close to the curb, you won't scratch you wheels.
I don't let other people wash my car, just cause I don't trust them. If it was a pro detailer that would be one thing, but the kid at the local car wash, I'll pass.
As far as wheel repair, you could just check out the shops that offer it. Some will do it in house, some will send out I'm sure, just depends.
If you are really anal, you could probably buy two new wheels depending on repair price and how good of deal you get on new wheels.
