Default I'm a Little Pissed Now...

While I already had some scratches and a pretty big gash that my parents put on one of my stock 16" alloys, now, and it's ALL MY FAULT, I put scrapes and damages on the lips of two of my rims; one happened a month ago, about, while trying to parallel park with my be-atch, and the other this morning when I was driving into a Dunkin Donuts drive through and I scraped right against the little wall that runs alongside the lane....now, two of my rims have scrapes along the lips and Im f***ing mad because I know they're not perfect anymore. Lets face it, the CAR isnt perfect anymore; I recently got her back from the body shop because she was hit in the back by a be-atch in a 99 Pathfinder, and they needed to put a new bumper and rear under body OEM skirt on, which doesnt look the way it did prior to the accident---and that is STILL bothering me because I need to hold on to this car even with 47,000 miles on her.

Can any of y'all playas relate to rims getting scraped, or a car going through an accident and just not feeling the "same" anymore? I can only imagine how mad I would be if I dropped the thousands of bucks I have been contemplating on 18" chromes and I scraped the cement...

Just one more reason not to buy chrome rims.

Thanks Fellas,

But what do I do about the stock rims for now? Is there a way to fix them without a wheel shop having to send them out somewhere for repair? Should I just live with the scrapes on the lips? Thats all they seem to be, really, I think....

Well, besides the big gash one of my parents put in one of the rims one day they had the car years back....and of course, they said they didnt do it....

Thanks....

I just went to one of the local HAND car washes here in town and seemed like some of the rim damage's "powder debris" was cleaned away and the damage doesnt look so bad...any comments on HAND car washes---you know, the ones where the guys are in there with wash mitts and detailing the cars? Its getting too cold here in NY to do the car by hand, and I dont have a garage or driveway.

Do these rim shops you speak of need to have the rims sent away?

My Whining, Huh Len?

Well, thats not what my intention was, to whine, but whatever makes your dress blow up, my good man! Call me whatever you would like...

:fawk:

And, just a little FYI, my car is not a show car, so your suggestive yet inconstructive, ghetto-lingo-oriented sarcastic statement regarding "Oh no, I 'GOTZ' (what the HELL is that??) a scratch..." is irrelevant in this application -- it doesnt mean anything; I hope that is as un-ghetto as possible. At any rate, subsequently, your words harm no one because they're just that....words! But my good man, it's all good, as they would say at the Imperial Courts, so party on! Just know that I was not whining; I just try and take care of my property that I myself paid out of pocket $28K for, and when a rim gets damaged, its like someone bit down on one of Mariah Carey's sweet succulent nipples while suckin' on em...well, I get the same reaction to my car, anyway....

Do you boys really have more...oh how did you put it...."battle scars" than some others in here? Can you tell me what kinds of scars? I am assuming your vehicle is not set up for show...

I am smart enough not to hit curbs with my rims

True....this is indeed a case of mind over matter for the most part; and while it doesn't take a mathematical genius as the one portrayed by Russell Crowe in "A Beautiful Mind" to "avoid hiitting curbs," it does take being very damn careful sometimes...but, Nightshade, I must say....sometimes, hitting these curbs is unavoidable: really. Sometimes, it's just pure accident -- you cant always be concentrating on everything at every single second. Humans will wander, mentally. And even during parallel parking and whatnot. It will happen.

Heck, even Motor Trend did a full length editorial on the Accord EX coupe in like 98 or 99 or something, and they had a close-up view of one of the car's sawtooth-style 15" alloys, and the caption read "The Accord's wheels are prone to curb scrapes..."
