and as far as reliability... LMFAO make an 11sec civic, then make an 11 sec mustang... compare total cost and reliability.. the mustang wins again BOTH times... they try because they are silly (like me) a civic is an economy car
don't compare the price of an older mustang to a 98 civic.. 5g hatches can go for as low was 2/3k as well

ur point about the 11sec civics vs. 11sec mustangs is probably correct, i just don't know.. but for street purposes, civics have better reliability.. to mess up a honda engine, you have to throw insane amounts of boost at it or hit the rev limiter like crazy.. to mess up a mustang engine, all you hafta do is drive it daily and it'll mess itself up..

unfortunately you are brainwashed by what youve "heard" how much FIRST hand mustang exp you have??? or domestic tuning for that matter.. i have friends with daily drivable (meaning they are totaly street legal) 10 sec domestics... to this day i have never with my own eyes seen a 10 sec daily drivable civic... look im NOT saying domestics are all that.. im simply saying that they are NOT as unreliable as people think... and as far as a 5g hatch.. sure you can get it for 2500.. and how fast will that be in the 1/4? 16's... you can buy a 5.0 for 2k in good condition and it will ALREADY be right around high 14's... so you will have to throw a LOT of money at your civic JUST to get where im already at with my mustang.. then if i throw equal cash at my mustang you are back in the hole and if you try to catch up you you are that much closer to being less reliable..

edit.. you will ALL misunderstand street legal.. i mean drivable on the street.. lol NOT necisarily "street legal" as in dot/state inspection compliance

i would be leary of any mustang for 2 to 3 thousand for a newer model because it seems that reliability would be out the window at that price. as far as honda's being reliable it was said that you have to throw insane amounts of boost, i think that is wrong i've heard of rods going at 6 psi from detonation. now with tuning that could be fixed, but even still there are lots of things to look at internally before throwing insane amounts of boost on honda engines.

what it all comes down to is displacement. to rebuild my 400 cubic inch small block chevy in my gmc s-15 to run 10"s i would spend a couple of grand, it would not be reliable but it can be done easily and fairly cheap. i just personally find it more interesting to see a honda smoking mustangs and camaros.

i for one dont want a newer one if im using it to race.. i want a LATE 80s to very early 90's...

and you are very right.. NOT built they really can't handle too much boost, or nitrous or anything for that matter..

I drove a '77 Olds 98 regency with a 4bbl 403ci motor (with over 150k miles) for over 2 years doing absolutely no maintenance but brakes and irregular oil changes--like once every 5-9k miles. Absolutely no problems, its proven to be far more reliable than my supra (not hard to do h: ) and my civic (which is saying something).

thats my personal experience with domestics.:exnbp: Plus, for being a yacht, it was pretty fast.

yeah well the 400 small block chevy wasn't exactly a stock motor for an 88 s15 lol so its kinda just put together, but that is my fault that is unreliable.
